2012 Divisional Round vs Seahawks
- Falcons were up 20-0 at half and 27-7 heading into the 4th. Gave up the lead (28-27 with 36 seconds left) but overcame it with a game winning fg with 13 seconds left

2012 NFC Championship vs 49ers
- Up 17-0 and blew their chance to face the Ravens in the Superbowl

Superbowl 51
- Up 28-3 in the 3rd and 28-9 heading into the 4th. Failed to capture their first Superbowl

I can't recall another team that has blown multiple big leads in the playoffs like the Falcons have. At least not on the scale and in the fashion that the Falcons have done it.

Well I suppose the good thing is they've been kicking the shit out of their last 5 playoff opponents but it's not just the postseason. Atlajta blew big leads a few times in the regular season too ( most notably vs SD and New Orleans). I think you have to carefully balance playing smart against playing too cautious. The 12 NFC title game probably isn't in the same category as the others imo since they only led by 10 at the half but next year I'd prefer if we just never went prevent on D. QBS now are too good to do that

I'm not so sure about Atlanta, but Quinn standing watching as Brady rips him late in the game is for sure a trend....

Twice now.

I guess the prevent defense didn't work very well.

In the SB not only did they play prevent defense, they also played prevent offense

They should a played prevent offense after the Julio catch in the 4th quarter with around 3min left... We might be having a different conversation if they did ... Atlanta didn't need a TD, they just needed that field goal like a mouse needs cheese...

I 100% agree. Had they just came away with 3 points there the history books are rewritten. Pats took advantage of the Falcons mistakes and EARNED the win, but the Falcons didn't do too much to get in NE's way.

The Houston Oilers say hi.

Led the Broncos 21-6 in 1991. Lost 26-24

Led the Bills 35-3 in 1992. Lost 41-38 in overtime.

Led the KC Chiefs 10-0 in 1993. Lost 28-20.

I think they even top the Falcons because they did it in three consecutive playoffs!

Falcons had a 4-5 year gap in theirs.

Also: there was not a single playoff win between any of these three losses by the Oilers.

I remember those Oilers teams in the 80s and early 90s gave up a few big leads in the playoffs. Of course, they had the big collapse against the Bills, but there were some other blown leads, iirc.

Blank was outspoken against Trump, and BB is a friend to the Don, it was just fate !!!!
Seriously though, Matty isn't cut out for big games.....He's another seasonal champ that morphs into a chimp come post season.....
I'm glad Ozzie didn't make the trade up to get him when we took Joe....Say what you want about JF but he is dangerous in the post season and has been there more times than not and advanced every time....
Joe Cool enough for me !!!!:D

If Shanny took his head out of his own ass and run the ball we maybe talking Matty Ice and the Falcons as SB champs. Pats took advantage of Atlanta's play calling blunders.

I swear to God half you fuckers are straight retarded. Ryan just finished a playoff run with over 70% completion, 10.4 ypa, over a 120 passer rating in every game ( including 144 in the SB), 9 TDS- 0 INTS and his team scored 36 PPG anfld there are dipshits talking smack?? Lol. There are a plethora of reasons Atlanta lost. Bad play calling, Bradys greatness, Freeman missing a block, going prevent to early. All of those are legit. Trying to blame Ryan just proves you're either petty or that you don't know anything about football

I know the feeling, I despise our DC, Dean Pees his pants in the 4th qtr.....He has lost so many games that we had won over the last 5 yrs by doing the same thing, almost gave a 3 score lead away in SB 47....
Last year, top 5 D, collapsed to keep us out of the playoffs in a game we had won yet again....And what does management do, give him another year to do the same......:gaah:
I'm gonna have a party when that Goober is out of here....
