Hoping to at least make it to the finals

Is Gaborik good to go? I believe the Rangers are pretty maxed out with their salary cap so this may have to be the year they make a major push before cutting loose some assets.

I expect to see him play well this season.

I expect he'll be mediocre to poor, like he always is. I have been saying for years that he was overrated based on one playoff run. Penguins fans (many on here) adamantly disagreed. He doesn't pass the eyeball test. Lateral movement - mediocre to slow. Positioning - mediocre. Glove hand - mediocre. He's simply not...very...good. And I don't know why it's so hard to see it. He's been an all-star ONE time and only because the Penguins' fans stuffed the box.

The thing Fleury had going for him, according to Pens' fans, was that he was "clutch." I think that has been blowed up the last few seasons. His save percentage the last three playoffs is well under the .900 mark. He's lost 3 of his last 4 playoff series.

But please, keep paying him $5 million, Pens. He's an overrated, overpaid pile.

Lets see Visnovsky is whining about being pressured by the NHL & the Islanders about coming over here. Nabokov hasn't played any hockey since last season. Dipietro was pulled after playing 2 games in the German 2nd division & their big forward acquisition was Brad Boyes.

Can you say bottom 3 in the LEAGUE!!

He's ready to go. I don't believe our cap situation is that bad.

Calling him overpaid is kind of funny when you consider there are ten goalies in the league with higher cap hits per season than Fleury! And of those ten, only two of them have hoisted the cup (Ward, Thomas).

The position in general is overpaid. He's also currently second in playoff wins among active goalies (Brodeur). After this season, he's got two years left on his current deal that will take him to age 30. I'm willing to wait until his cuuent deal is up before sending him packing.

I'm sorry, when you look at the Pens general success the past few years I don't think you can really call Fleury overrated. With the current market, he's not even overpaid. His job is to keep the team in a game, and he does that with general regularity. This postseason was his worst showing, certainly, but I'm confident he'll bounce back.

It's actually surprisingly easy. I start without all the bias the Pens' fans have toward him, click the reply button, and start typing...

I have been saying for years that he was overrated based on one playoff run.

And voila! I've called him overrated. It's very easy. Again, not just talking about last year. He hasn't had a save percentage below .900 in the playoffs the last THREE years. That's pretty bad. His numbers in the playoffs besides the Cup run are VERY mediocre, if not bad. His regular season numbers are not terribly impressive aside from wins, which are the least telling goalie statistic. Like I said though, I hope you guys keep him for years to come.
