We should have started rebuilding 2 yrs ago. Hard.

We tried. But Nash was a complete dud, Dwight was a complete dick and Dr Buss' dying wish, rest his soul, was to hire D'antoni over Phil.

I'm hoping our rookies are the start of a new era.

Isn't this the part where you brag how amazing the suns are?

How did you do in the playoffs last year?

This has nothing to do with the Suns. YOU aren't making the playoffs next year... even your fellow Lakers fans think you're delusional.

If the Lakers had played this right LeBron would be house-shopping up in Bel Air right now.

If you guys are smart, you'll tank so you don't give Phoenix your 1st rounder next year. It's top 5 protected... so if LA gets a top 5 pick then they'll be in really good shape (cap space wise and pick wise) next year to pull off a blockbuster trade. But I have a feeling Kobe won't like that idea, lol.

...neither will ownership or the fans. Rebuilding is not allowed in LA.

Basically 0. The actual number is a couple mil but its not enough to make a real improvement

Damn. I thought they had more but forgot how overpaid Lin was by Houston. Hill is a decent pickup as well, but their only hope is to land a top 5 pick next year. If not the rebuilding process could take longer than I know most Lakers fans would like

So having Kobe back healthy won't be an impact?
Getting two promising young rookies won't make an impact?
Firing D'Antoni won't make an impact?
Upgrading our PG won't make an impact?

What's with all the negativity? I think we did pretty good for "Plan B" so far.

What exactly have you done that would be considered "Plan B"? Resign players from your horrible 2013 season? Take on salary dumps? Hire a coach?

Even if you account for Kobe being healthy & say he gives you 10 more wins, the Lakers would still be lucky to be the 10th best team in the west.

1. Kobe is back. So we've upgraded our SG position. Kobe > Meeks
2. Lin is better than any PG we had last year so we upgraded that position too
3. Re-signed our top scorer from last year who averaged almost 18ppg off the bench
4. Gained two promising rookies in Randle and Clarkson both who will have immediate impact
5. D'Antoni is gone. ANYONE is better than him. Coaching position is upgraded too

As for re-signing Jordan Hill, he averaged 20 minutes per game.

Bump his stats up to the amount of minutes Gasol averaged and Hills stats are a LOT better.

I always felt that Gasol was highly overrated. He was very inconsistent and seemed like the kind of player who allowed his emotions to take over and impact his game.

Inimical, you should post on the Dodgers and Kings boards too. Looks like I'm going to have to resort to the boys in blue as my hope against the Giants this season. :L

I approve that choice. :suds:

I agree that plan B is going fairly well. But even if Kobe got bionic legs, I think the Lakers are looking to hover around .500. While that may be a 5 seed in the east, it's not good enough in the west. Remember, the Suns won 48 games last year and missed the playoffs.

Better to miss the playoffs one more season and have a shot at getting to use that potential top 5 pick.

Fortunately, only $8.4 mil of Lin's $15 mil counts against the cap. The Lakers have 4 spots left and will likely fill the roster with Xavier Henry, Ryan Kelly and maybe a couple of guys off the summer league team.

The plan is basically to get through this season and go for a max FA next year when they will have even more cap space with Nash coming off the books.
