What happens if this doesn't go through? They extend their lease?

Chuck has already agreed to lease terms on a new arena if the bond is passed on July 1st. The lease would keep the Isles in Nassau County until 2045.

All people involved in this believe it will pass.

Well the Isles have the money, but do you really think after all the years of struggling and an owner that everyone knows is insane that Long Island is an attractive destination for a top FA? Plus you guys still play in an outdated building with poor fan support.

If Erhoff has any sense, he signs somewhere else.

With Tavares, Streit, Moulson, Grabner, Okposo, Hamonic, MacDonald, Neilson, Comeau, & a prospect pool that is loaded the Isles are going to be good in a couple of years. Very good.

If Erhoff doesn't want to be a part of it so be it. Giving up a 4th round pick for the opportunity to sign Erhoff was a no brainer.

At least half the players you mentioned would be only 3rd liners at best on a decent team. So far, I have only seen one flash in the pan season from Grabner. If he keeps it up, then I will gladly say I was wrong.

But with your non existent defense and goaltending, plus the fact you have gone through at least 50 coaches in 3 seasons, "very good" in a couple of years I seriously doubt.

The Isles can be a funny team in 2011-2012. I really liked their grit last season. The chemistry the returning players have developed over the course of last season mixed with the right signings this offseason can lead to a successful season next year. I said it a couple years ago, the Isles are going to be dangerous again in the near future.

I can see them becoming that dreaded team you dont want to face in fear of leaving battered and bruised.

They have the money to address these issues now though... They just need to sell their image and plan to the right guys. Theres still time this offseason to grab a few more pieces to the puzzle.

3rd liners? They need some time to develop and some blue liners/netminders to help the cause, but I think the Islanders have some great young offensive talent and were downright scary at times on O in the latter part of the season. Of all the non-playoff teams in the East, I think they might be in the best position to be a contender in 3-4 years time. They just need to develop more and have Snow not screw it up.

I, like eloco, think you're selling those forwards a little short. There's speed, there are hands, there's toughness. Those guys can play, they just need someone on the back end getting the puck up to them so they can use those tools.

If the Islanders can sell the idea that they're serious about winning (and I think they started to send that message with this trade), lure a couple defensemen and a goalie to this team, and sign one more top six forward, I think they could make the playoffs as a low seed as early as this year.

The Islanders can score and defend themselves, they just can't keep the puck out of their own net right now.

All it means is it's up to Erhoff now. The sales pitches have been made. Snow will know later today what Erhoff has decided to do.

The offer has been made. It's said to be a long term deal averaging around 6 million per year. It's evening time in Germany. Erhoff will likely make his decision today or he might want to sleep on it. We shall see.

Depends on the structure of the contract. I said earlier the Islanders will probably front load the deal.

Something like:

1. 8m
2. 7m
3. 6m
4. 6m
5. 4m
6. 3m

6 years 34 million

Reports that talks broken down between Islanders and Ehrhoff. Looks like Christian determined to go for the bundle on July 1.
