- The Kings are trying to become the first team since the 1960 Canadiens to sweep a Stanley Cup finals without trailing in any game.
- Would be 1st sweep in Stanley Cup finals since 1998, when the Red Wings defeated the Capitals.
- Would tie the 1988 Oilers (16-2) for the fewest games required to win the Stanley Cup since all four rounds went to a best-of-seven format in 1987.
- Would be 1st time Cup has been won on home ice since 2007 when the Ducks defeated the Senators.
- Stanley Cup would reside in California for the 2nd time in 6 seasons (Anaheim Ducks won in 2007).
- Would become first No. 8 seed to win Stanley Cup since the conference-based playoff format was introduced in 1994.
- Darryl Sutter would become 1st of the six Sutter brothers to win the Stanley Cup as a head coach (Duane Sutter won 4 as a player, while Brent won 2. Each of the 6 came with the Islanders).
- Darryl Sutter would become the 5th midseason coaching replacement to win the Stanley Cup, becoming the first since Dan Bylsma (2009 Penguins).
- Kings would become the second team in the four major sports to win with as many as three different head coaches/managers during the regular season, joining the 1978 Yankees. The Kings began with Terry Murray, who was fired on Dec. 12 and replaced by John Stevens on an interim basis (4 games). The team then hired Darryl Sutter on Dec. 20.
- Dustin Brown would join Derian Hatcher (1999 Stars) as the only U.S.-born captains of a Stanley Cup-winning team. Brown hails from Ithaca, N.Y.
- The Kings would be the 4th consecutive team to win the Stanley Cup after opening its season in Europe. They began on Oct. 7 with a game in Stockholm, Sweden, against the Rangers.
- Kings would win their first Stanley Cup in their 44th season. The last team to win the Cup for the first time was the 2007 Ducks.
