Redskins vs. Eagles - Play-By-Play - September 8, 2019 - ESPN

Here is what the Skins did for the 2nd half except for some late garbage time stats (hmm you thinks that AP might have been able to add to those numbers?):

3 plays 1 yd
3 plays 0 yds
4 plays 4 yds

I agree that the defense did terribly in the 2nd half & has to be held accountable. However this type of play from the offense was a contributing factor & it also kept the defense on the field even more. I also love how you portray it as if Gruden is only responsible for the offense. As someone else here noted - he is the head coach (perhaps he is a Norv Turner type & should stick to being an asst).

I don’t think AP makes a difference here at all . What does make a difference is missing the bomb for a TD . Then follow that up with a drop of a pass that would have been a first down . That’s execution

Now for the defense Gruden is the HC and he chose manusky

All in all Gruden doesn’t have any more time in year 6 period

If we have a losing year I hire mconnell as HC and find another Dc and go from there

Quite possibly AP would not make a difference on those 3 series. However I am convinced that he would have made a difference during the entire game & would have provided somewhat of a change of pace that would have had kept the Eagles off guard.

Here is what I think. The D couldn't stop the Eagles. Holding penalties, a dropped pass and a missed open WR were the problem … exefriggincution …. was the problem.

So if you weren't around for the Joe Gibbs years, Joe ran the offense and Pettibon ran the defense. Joe was the HC … he ran nothing on defense.

Well I am not for the benching but run blocking was crap for all backs and covering DJax was the issue

Fair enough. However Gruden does control the coaches. If the D puts up another performance like yesterday Gruden can fire Manusky (assuming that he is not fired first).

One of the issues. On one of the Eagles drives they pretty much ran at will & the Redskins tackling was atrocious.

I am not trying to standup for Manusky but who is this DC in waiting that can turn the team around (after one whole week) while teaching them a new defense on the run?

Maybe Tomsula - maybe not. I don't truly believe anything will happen in the next few weeks, but if this were to continue say for a few months then I am for finding someone else just to groom the team for the future.

Please, please Manusky, Skins D, etc - just prove me wrong & live up to your potential over the next several weeks & months (even in a losing cause if they put up a good ft - not that 2nd half garbage from yesterday).

I don't think he should have popped off about AP. Like it or not it was the coaches decision. I wouldn't have done it but I don't think his playing or not playing hurt the team. Execution in the 1st half got them the lead, lack of execution in the 2nd half cost them the game.

All these Redskins fans bitching this morning, but it could be worse - Giants(they ran Barkley just 11 times), Browns(Mayfield woke up feeling dangerous to his own team), Steelers and the Phins(ugh...nothing to say!).

It’s bad in DC, but if you want to feel better look around

if you dont understand what that means i cant help you

but i will spell it out for you , if we play like we did in the first half we can compete

what that means is for the full 60 minutes

no one and i mean no one on this board had us beating the eagles ,on the road , game one , so where are we ?

where i thought we would be

we start out 2 -3 and we have a shot . nothing happened out there today that makes me take anything i said back .

we can compete for a playoff spot , we did last season with 4 freaking qbs

i believe our team is better this year and one game wont change my mind

now we come out 1-4 or 0-5 then that w

ill change m
Gruden's explanation for Peterson is pretty weak. Let me get this straight - to be prepared on punt returns you are willing to compromise your running game (the beauty of the 3 headed monster is that you can mix it up & potentially be more effective), possibly damage team chemistry & maybe even cause AP to have 2nd thoughts on his future w/ the Skins. All the while you are placing the burden of the running game on a RB who had never had one carry in the NFL to that pt.

This does not appear to be well thought out by Gruden & if things are not turned around this will be just another reason to get rid of him.

I agree!

The guy needs to be fuking fired, period! You bench AP (OPOY) and now that Guice is hurt yet again, you NEED AP. AP should stick up his middle finger to Gruden!!! You Fuking cut Robert Davis to move up Holtz, for what? Davis & Sprinkle had the TE position locked down, you didn't need to make that move either. You also let your DC screw things up in half 2 because for some reason, we are the only professional football team in the NFL who cannot make 2nd half adjustments.
To save his ass, he should fire Manusky today, and promote Tomsula to DC. Maybe then we can get a fire lit under someone assssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
