Some very interesting hires this year. Not sure I like this one other than the fact that it weakens a divisional opponent.

As an NFCEast fan, Im lovin' this. So they fired Andy Reid, let Chip gut the team, then hire a Reid disciple. Whats not to like??

Haha never thought of it that way. More so just thinking of him being a Head Coach and just questioning this hire. Not like the Chiefs offense has been anything special since he has been there and I would question just how much more it was Reid running things than Pederson.

Miami, Philly and SF have really fucked up their head coaching hires.

It's a good hire, (IMO)
Look Reid's time was done in Philly, man lost his kid there, and the team wasn't built for the future ( QB wise) plus defensively they sucked when JJ passed away. It was a win win for both for the split, granted Kelly shot himself in the foot wanting all the power ( which made sense since the GM is a tool) now Lurie full circle goes and takes a guy from Reids coaching tree and can start fresh.

The real question becomes... do they resign Bradford, or roll out with Butt Fumble for 2016??

They can "tag" him for one year, then see how it plays out. Dirty Sanchez will be cut and find a roster spot in SF is my guess.

Bradford in an Andy Reid based control offense would actually worry me.... But I think its going to take three years AND a shit ton of money to unfuck the house that Chipper Built.

Weighted DVOA ranks while Pederson has been in KC.

Inherited: -25.1% (31st)

2013: 6.3%; 10th
2014: 2.7%; 11th
2015:13.9%;3rd

PPG

Inherited: 13.2 PPG (Last)

2013: 26.9 PPG (T-6th) + a 44 point outing against the Colts
2014: 22.8 PPG (16th) no playoffs
2015: 25.3 PPG (9th) + a 30 point outing against Houston last week

Doesn't necessarily imply they've been dynamic so much as effective; it's certainly not quite true they're anemic. It is certainly not a secret KC plays as much "smallball" of anyone in the league with their borderline obsession on running the ball and short/intermediate passing. One thing I noticed is that Sam Bradford has struggled, or at least been hesitant to, throw the ball downfield. Philly was 28th in Alex Smith's namesake stat: ALEX; KC is 30th, just ahead of the Patriots and 49ers. ALEX stands for Air Yards Less than Expected. Basically, Bradford is perfectly fine throwing short of the 1st and his QBR on deep balls is meh in a similarly Alex Smithy way. This is not to say Bradford is Alex Smith- there's a large gulf, imo, between the two in short and intermediate passing. What it does provide is pause for a WCO purist like Pederson now running the show. What does Pederson do if he keeps Bradford? We may very well find out.

The other sticking point is obviously how much of this is Andy Reid's handiwork? No idea how much, but Pederson has called plays time to time. Seems kind of like another hail mary hire for the Eagles. This could really be a big disaster... or a stealthy solid hire. We will see, but this seems sloppy by the Eagles.

As for the Chiefs, I'd imagine they just promote Brad Childress from double secret probation (aka, "spread game analyst") to the OC position in the offseason. Hopefully this doesn't prove to be a distraction for Pederson or the Chiefs.
