Are the Cavs the favorites once again in the East? Is Boston? Or was Cleveland the favorites before this news broke....?
Wade is an upgrade over Irving.
Wade is an upgrade over Irving.
Eh, not so sure anymore. Irving was never a great defender, or an average one for that matter. But Irving is an elite scorer, and Wade, albeit still a quality 2-guard, doesn't have the same offensive ability and he's about as effective on the defensive end now given that he simply doesn't try on that end anymore. Plus, Irving was able to play alongside Lebron so efficiently because he could hit the 3 - Wade can't do that.
Yes -- I agree.
I think we can agree the Cavs are a better team -- as long as IT comes back and plays at a reasonable level in Y2018.
I could see the Cavs keeping Shumpert as a defensive guard -- particularly against players like Kyrie and the Ws.
It will be a challenge for Lue to have this team fit together offensively. (although -- I think it would be better for him to focus first on defense -- like the Celtics did when they started with their Big 3) Spo struggled his first year on offensive schemes -- then he did a very good job with them in years 2 & 3.
It was relatively simple to run an offense with one main ball handler (Lebron &/or Kyrie) -- and 3 or 4 3-point shooters. (with either TT setting the pick or on the bench) They could just stick the other players around the 3-point line and let Lebron/Kyrie do their thing. It will be tougher with an offense where 2-3 players aren't great 3-point shooters and they can't just play an ISO-based offense.
How so? Chemistry wise I would probably agree with you. Performance and ability wise? No. Wade is running on fumes at this pointWade is an upgrade over Irving.
Crippled guard and senior citizen guard make them stronger.I had the Cavs winning the trade with Boston so this move makes them even stronger as a favorite in the East IMO.
