I think both guys realize the situation the team is in and know if they miss another 2-3 weeks the season is done.

Thunder small forward Kevin Durant (foot) and guard Russell Westbrook (hand) are both "healing at an accelerated rate" and could be back in the starting lineup as early as the end of next week, according to the Oklahoman.

Both players made some progress while working out this week and are scheduled to take part in non-contact practice Saturday and will be re-evaluated next week.

"Probably not any of the contact stuff," Brooks said. "(But) they will go through some of our practice and we'll go from there."

Both will certainly miss Sunday's game against Golden State. Oklahoma City will face the Jazz on Wednesday and the Knicks on Friday.

If they drop their next two then they're still 3-13. They'd have to win 10 in a row just to get to .500 and even then they'd still be back a few games from the last two spots. It will be difficult for them, but if they both come back by Friday then they could still have time to right the ship.

Even if they don't get back til January, they can still go on a hot streak and turn it around, but they have started a nice little hole to dig out of

No they will be done for sure. At this rate if KD/Westbrook were out until January, they would have about 25 losses or a little less

I just want to make sure they are both fully healthy. I dont want them coming back too soon and getting reinjured.

There is no fucking way I'd put KD out there right now. You put him out there now and you're just begging him to be the next Brook Lopez, someone who misses almost 2 years because he keeps reinjuring himself

They'd be fools to rush back and risk worsening the injuries they have.

Not really.

Their championship window is rapidly closing.

Can't let this year go to waste

Russ might not reinsure his wrist, but I think he's very injury prone. I think he's going to start having knee problems, like d Rose. Maybe not as severe, but those types of players that are uber athletic and play super aggressive cause a lot of wear and tear on their legs. I wouldn't be surprised if he had to get another knee surgery within the next year or two.

Yup. Same with Bledsoe.

If they fall 10 games below .500 I find it hard to see them making the playoffs. Still a shit load of time left, but 13 losses in November in the West = big no no.

Looking more and more likely that Westbrook is back Friday vs New York....Durant shouldn't be far behind.

When you go from non-contact to contact in practice, usually means you're coming back in the very near future and both guys practiced today. I think they may hold out KD a game or 2 longer but I think if there aren't any setbacks, Westbrook will play Friday

Given they're in the West it's going to be tough to make the playoffs given they're 3 and 12 now.

Tooo early to determine that. I want to see where they're at after 41 games. If they're 5 games back or less they're in great shape. As bad as they been they're just 6 games out so if they come back this week, they should make it

Winning 4 or 4.5 out of 5 is not going to be an issue for this team once they get back to full strength. You want to talk about motivated, it's going to be great to watch. Look for the rook McGary to play a big roll by playoff time, he is the rebounder the Thunder have lacked.
