At best.. Warriors were probably done after this season anyways . None of them get along and so stacked with talent they can't decide who's gonna be "the man". Its the same way the Kobe/Shaq Lakers run came into an end. They SHOULD have won 3-4 more titles at least but egos got in the way. Im sure theres gonna be 3-4 super teams next year, since thats all superstars do these days. Join forces. So really this means nothing

3 to 4 titles not counting the ones Kobe won anyway?

After losing to Detroit 4-1?

They were heavy favorites to win the title that year but lost because Kobe's ego, ball hogging and constant bricks. Shaq still had 2-3 prime years left after that. Then Kobe starting coming into his peak years by then. They SHOULD have won at least 4 more after 2004

Those Lakers were a two trick pony against an elite defense

No one but Shaq shot worth a damn

If Shaq doesn't go to Miami they face that same team three straight years at best. If you all got past San Antonio.

I just don't see it that way

Yes they do. They have Klay Thompson's bird rights.
Bird rights doesn't mean you avoid the tax... No way they can sign Thompson for 26M annually if Durant (only) exercises his team option...

No question they can't offer durant a supermax...

Their best bet if they are to stay competitive for the seasons that follow, is to dump KD's salary along with either Ingoadala or Livingston and then resign Thompson on a multiyear contract.

The argument was if they could re-sign Klay Thompson. I never said anything regarding the tax. Of course when you go over the cap to re-sign your own players will result going deeper into the luxury tax.

And the Warriors could offer Durant a super max if they want to (and they likely will because they want to hold onto him). This has been talked about multiple times on this forum. But the Warriors could sign these guys to whatever deals they want because they have all of their Bird Rights. This is why ESPN mentioned that over the next 4-5 years, the Warriors are looking at paying a total of $1.5 billion in salary and luxury tax.

It's doable, it's just are the Warriors willing to pay that much luxury tax.

To pay 300M annually shouldn'd be considered "doable", but instead SUICIDAL...

It's nearly 10% of the organization's total value PER YEAR we are talking here...

That wasn't the argument.

Personaly, I believe that especially if the Warriors lose to Toronto this year, they should consider not to pay a penny in lux tax next season... Not just reduce it.

I agree. Let Klay go to the Lakers to join Lebron and AD.

The fuck are you blathering about now? The luxury penalty will be significant because they're in the repeaters bracket. In the end, it's up the the Warriors ownership if they want to pay it. Meaning, they could re-sign all of their guys if they want. Stop trying to derail every single argument that you're losing.

...it will just be ridiculously expensive. If they're willing to pay that, rock on.

They won't go that far. They will pay the tax and be the better for it financially as long as they keep their brand high

Yeah, but why discuss fiction?

^^^Pretty much sums up this looney.

You realize you discuss fiction ALL the time and it starts will your crazy trade proposals and you actually thinking AD was coming back and signing long-term in N.O. What a joke :pound:

If Durant exercises his option, they don't have anywhere near enough money to offer Thompson a max deal.

This numbnuts said it and he was trying to say he MEANT to say something else. Totally false comment and even if he was talking about luxury tax it makes no sense considering the Warriors have been willing and are willing to pay into the luxury tax.
