Hello there. I casually browse this site from time to time but with today being a pretty significant day for my team I felt the need to comment. First off, the fact that this will be our 4th 1st overall pick in 6 years is a fact I am not proud of at all. but I am over the moon at the fact I, a fan since I was 8 years old and my father, since the WHA days, will get to watch Conner McDavid on a nightly basis in Oiler blue
More importanly though, all the people on here saying they feel sorry for him and that we fans don't deserve it is quite frankly sad. I know there is a whole regional rivaly thing, but there are a lot of loyal long suffering Oilers fans in this city that have been treated like shit by Lowe and Ownership. McDavid brings the first sign of real hope for us in years. I never had that feeling with Hopkins or Hall.
I'm sorry if us winning this today pisses you off, but I for one cannot wait to wacth Oilers hockey next season!

That's the lottery for you. I'm not mad. 4th pick in a very deep draft is just fine by me. My concern is more on the scouting and development dept's. I hope Shanny knows how to put the right team together to get the most out of the guys he does draft.

funny but when the Penguins had 3 first overall picks in 5 years a while ago I did not hear anywhere near the same level of complaining as against us. only fair way to deal with a top pick really is 30 teams, each with 1 ball go into a drum. may the best team win.

I'm much happier to see McDavid in Edmonton than Dallas or Colorado (although I'm sure Gary Bettman doesn't share my point of view). Lest we forget, Edmonton finished 35 points behind the Flames this past season.
