It's funny because some pundits wanted a system where the draft order should be based on the number of points a team gets after being eliminated - and if that was the case, Edmonton would have won it

Preds did ok with Weber/Suter too.

But those teams were never going to win the Cup. They couldn't score. Defend all you want, if you can't score you aren't going anywhere.

Sure, but I'd think they'd rather be in that spot then to be horrible - I think if you continue to be a good team for a number of years, you might be able to attract a top scorer whether it's via trade or free agency - if you keep drafting well on defense then eventually you have enough pieces to ship out to get a top scorer

Also, the Coyotes kinda need a goalie too
