Sting, one really good thing I see in the Suns favor is that the money will be spent more wisely on Knight.

Sure, Dragic is better RIGHT NOW.

But, he wasn't gonna put you over the top and 100mil is a steep price to pay a guy to finish 9th every year.

It's different for Miami because they have guys who are in win now mode.

So, I see your point.

thats true- Knight is still so young- and hes restricted....giving him a 4 year deal at like 8-12 a year is good business- especially because you are pretty much guaranteed to keep him since hes restricted.

Dragic was going to be a risk anyway you put it for the Suns. He is 28 too.....did you really want to give him a 5 year max deal which probbly would have been required to keep him?

I think the Suns did well- still have 2 great young back court guys- got themselves financial flexiblity and some extra picks.....

thats pretty solid

yah....i had a hard time fitting Rose in.....i was really unsure where to put him....

I like Dragic a lot as a player- dont get me wrong- but i couldnt put him over Lillard/Wall/Kyrie talent wise....and of course steph, paul, rw, parker, belong over him....

i suppose oyu could make a case with him or Lowry- but i think if you were really examining it youd take Lowry---

its really close though---- and that next group- guys like bledsoe and teague- its hard to discount them....

the PG is just so stacked.

Dragic is definitely a very good player though- and when you consider who he replaces its definitely the biggest upgrade any team made at the deadline

Clearly, some guys are more talented than him physically.

But, some of those players are top guys because of the system they play in too.

All are talented.

But not all of those guys would have the same success if you put them on another Team.

I have been hearing about Goodwin.

Is he that good?

Well, I will say your roster is more balanced and Bledsoe will really be able to spread his wings.

As long as you keep Knight, I like the composition of your Team.

I would have liked the trade more had you kept the Laker pick.

But, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Good luck the rest of the Season and I know it feels good not to have to wonder anymore.

It's no fun when players try to hold you hostage:suds:

Thanks Mecca :suds:

I think Knight fits in with Bledsoe better than Dragic did honestly, he's more geared to play that combo guard role than Dragic is since Goran is a pure PG. I think it's going to be a dynamic duo for years to come hopefully.

Agreed, giving up the Lakers pick sucks, but they won't get it until next year anyways and who knows how good LA will be by then. The 2021 (don't laugh) pick from Miami that is unprotected could end up being good. Top 7 protected in 2019. Who the hell knows what'll happen by then to Miami. lol

And yes, Goodwin is that good. He has put up god like numbers in the DLeague and whenever he gets time for PHX he always produces. He'll be a very solid backup and could eventually be good enough to become a starter in the league. He's only 20.

It's not one 1st round pick, it's three 1st picks plus cash & Knight. And the Suns cleared IT's salary. Basically it's a even swap of talent between Dragic & Knight plus a net gain of two 1st round draft picks for IT & parts.

You are correct.

I forgot Miami gave you 2 picks directly.

There is a 5 1/2 year age gap between Dragic & Knight. So while their talent is close now, Knight has a lot of room to grow. Plus signing Knight will be about $20 mil cheaper than signing Dragic. As much as I love Dragic, paying a 29 year old PG near $100 mil doesn't seem like a good move in the long run.

I think I read it's Miami's 2019 (Top 7 protected) & their 2021 pick unprotected. Could be wrong though.

Miami's starting 5 is just nasty now

Dragic
Wade
Deng
Bosh
Whiteside

if Wade stays healthy- that could be really good.

Did Miami keep Salmons or deal him away? i have seen conflicting reports....i like Salmons for their bench if they kept him.

These trades will benefit the Suns, Heat and Bucks. All 3 teams are now better.

+1 This trade puts the Suns more on track for when they can really be a force a year or two from now when guys like Goodwin, and Len are more developed- and Bledsoe and knight will be in their primes. Dragic is a "win now" type of guy- and you guys knew that your still a little ways away- but the last couple years have been great building blocks.

I believe he went to Phoenix with Kendall Marshall....Both should be released

In that case I don't care lol. 2019 I kinda care about but we're in 2015....I could careless about the 2021 pick at this moment.

What years are the first round picks Miami gave up? Haven't seen anything about the years. I just know we gave up 2 first round picks

Distant future. Early reports were 2017/19, but I've seen some report it as 2019/21. At this point, I'm not sure

I'm surprised the Sixers traded Carter-Williams.

2017/2019 would bother me more than 2019/2021.

I wonder if the first reported deal was actually offered to Phoenix? If it was I have no idea why Phoenix took this deal.

The first deal I saw was Cole, McRoberts, Bird, & 2 picks for Dragic.

I would take that anyday of the week over the deal they took

So now, Phoenix will have enough money to re-sign Knight & sign another player to a max contract this summer. Plus gives young guys chance to develop. They are looking towards future since OKC will surely jump over them this year. No point of a quick fix.

Lots of guys gonna be on the market this Summer too.

Not a bad time to have capspace.

Yep.

I love what the Bucks did.

Who better to teach MCW than J Kidd?

Plus, they got Ennis to back him up.

The Bucks have a solid young core with tons of upside.

yah....if you have MCW you need to have scoring options around him- to have Parker and Giannis around him is perfect- you probably need a big man or two who can shoot as well- so that should probably be where they look to add- a stretch 4....Henson is a good rim protector

Trjoan- want an avatar bet on if Dragic shoots 50% in Miami? Id glady let you pick me avatar for the first 2 rounds of the playoffs- while you only have to use the one i pick for the first round-

its hard for me to EXPECT any point guard in the league to shoot at 50% (except Rondo who refuses to shoot anywhere except at the rim pretty much)...its very very hard to do- especially when you have only done it for one full season once in your career

balls in your court if you want to take the bet....

He has shot just over 50% for the past 2 seasons. Why would you expect him to suddenly shoot worse?
