I agree with the bolded, up to a point. Dragic has apparently told the Suns that he wants to be traded to the Lakers, Knicks or Heat. However, as of yesterday, they were apparently talking to the Celtics, Kings and Rockets.

If he goes to one of those teams, then there's a decent chance the Lakers can get him in FA. What the Suns can get for him will be determined by how much those teams are willing to give up for what could be a 2-3 month rental vs. how much teams who can get him in FA are willing to part with to get him early.

Of the 3 teams that he named, the Heat have the most incentive to get him early because adding him to the what they already have, creates a fairly significant power shift in the East.

Yep.

Plus, won't Miami be around 70 mil next year?

If they trade Deng it gets them down to 60. But, would that be enough to sign Dragic even if the cap increases?

They, more than the Lakers or Knicks, need to trade for him now and it looks like they know it.

If they trade for him now, they would have enough to re-sign him because they will be able to go over the cap to sign him. If he makes it to FA, then Miami is probably out of the running unless they can find a way to clear some cap space.

Apparently Miami offered Norris Cole, Chris Anderson, Josh McRoberts & 2 1st rounders for Dragic.

I really hope they don't take it. Bunch of scrubs and picks that wouldn't come until 2017 at the earliest.

God damn, Miami is a contender again in the East.

Love you Goran, but I'm happy with B.Knight. Him and Bled = filthy backcourt.

BKS- You're going to love Goran and understand why I've been raving about him all these years. I like our return though overall so I'm not bitter towards Dragic at all. Happy to see him get a chance to make a title run. Miami becomes contenders just like that *IF WADE IS HEALTHY*.

Congrats to Miami on a great get.

Dragic fills a HUGE hole- and they go from maybe the worst PG situation in the league- to having a guy that is right on the cusp of the top ten.

I also think Miami did well in getting Salmons- who used to be a pretty good scorer- thats some nice bench depth at the SF position.

This move should obviously set in stone that Miami makes the playoffs- its probably too late for them to get the 6th seed i would imagine- but they are going to be a team that is a damn tough out at the 7 seed.

I could see them pushing the Cavs to 6 games- and theres no reason they couldnt beat the Wizards or Raptors

I feel like my 'Is Isaiah Thomas actually any good' thread I made a year ago has been answered. And that answer is no.

Miami seems like the big winner here. Phoenix made a smart move towards the future after messing with something that wasn't broken last offseason. IIRC Phoenix had great numbers when Dragic and Bledsoe were on the floor.

I don't like what the Bucks did.

Miami gave up 2 1st rounders. They sent Norris Cole, Justin Hamilton, Shawne Williams to New Orleans... They send Danny Granger and the first rounders to Phoenix...Phoenix also gets Salmons.

Brandon Knight will make Suns fans forget about Dragic.

Miami also gets Zoran Dragic... not a bad move. Seems like a move to keep Goran long term with having his brother in town. Who knows.

5. John Wall

9. Derek Rose
10. Kyle Lowery

I think that Dragic is right in that next group with guys like Teague, Bledsoe, Walker, Jennings, Knight, Rondo, Holliday

Its not insult- PG is the most stacked position in the league. There might never have been a time in the NBAs history where there are more good point guards.

Dragic is really good dont get me wrong- but id be hard pressed to rank him over John Wall who is leading his team to a 3 seed and leads the league in assists, or a Kyrie who just suited up for his 3rd all star game, or a Lillard who is a great young player- and after the game i saw Rose have the other night against the Cavs i belive he still has enough in the tank where i would take him over Dragic. He is 28 years old and this is only his 3rd year where he has even been a starter.

Like I said- I think Dragic is a very good player- but at this point to put him at anything higher than right around the fringe of the top 10 is asking a lot if you are objectively looking at his talent and body ofwork.

Yeah, but if I'm Miami then I'm thinking...

1. Chris Paul. Hey, he is in the West. Probably not going to see him in the playoffs
2. Steph Curry. Hey, he is in the West. Probably not going to see him in the playoffs.
3. Tony Parker. Hey, he is in the West. Probably not going to see him in the playoffs.
4. Russell Westbrook. Hey, he is in the West. Probably not going to see him in the playoffs.
5. John Wall. Win the other matchups and make sure Wall doesn't kill us.
6. Damian Lillard. Hey, he is in the West. Probably not going to see him in the playoffs.
7. Kyrie Irving. Doesn't always play defense. Dragic might be a push.
8. Mike Conley. Hey, he is in the West. Probably not going to see him in the playoffs.

edit: major typo

Last year as a POINT GUARD Dragic statistically had a top 3 year. Easily.

This year as a SHOOTING GUARD his numbers are down. I expect him to get close to his numbers last year with slightly less points just due to the pace the Heat play. 18ppg, 6apg, 3rpg, 1.5 spg on 50 percent shooting is what you can expect from him with decent defense.
