So Blake now has labeled Huff as DH/1B now. Wonder what his catching future may be
I hope that is because that is where he has to play this year. I hope they haven't completely given up on him catching. Hopefully, he can be the 20s version of Mike Napoli.

Hopefully he can be a DH and catch 35-40 games a year backing up a stud starter
That would give the roster great flexibility as well.

I don't care if he is 3rd base coach as long as he has a bat in his hand. We need hitters.

Jeff Wilson had this note in his newsletter today about Ron Washington helping out in the Do it For Durrett Foundation fundraiser.

The FedEx truck stopped by the house The other daywith a package from Atlanta.

Wash had come through again.

Ron Washington, the former Texas Rangers manager who is now coaching infield and third base for the Braves, has been picking up autographed memorabilia from across the National League for the past few years and donating it to the Do It For Durrett Foundation.

Those of us at DIFD then turn around and put the items up for auction at our annual main event, which this year will be held Oct. 23 at Legal Draft in Arlington.

Washington sent 13 autographed baseballs: Ronald Acuna Jr., Ozzie Albies, Freddie Freeman and Chipper Jones of the Braves; Clayton Kershaw and Albert Pujols of the Dodgers; Jacob de Grom of the Mets; Don Mattingly of the Marlins; Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado of the Padres; and Yadier Molina and Nolan Arenado of the Cardinals.

And, by special request, Washington autographed a ball, too.

He’s not the only ex-Rangers coach or player who knew DIFD namesake Richard Durrett and contributes. Mike Maddux, Nelson Cruz and Derek Holland are regulars to the silent auction, too. Ian Kinsler, Chris Davis, Yu Darvish and Mitch Moreland have all been fantastic.

Well I have him as our #1 future catcher

With Salvador Perez being locked up for 4-5 more years and playing mvp caliber baseball I would think MJ Melendez would be available.
We’ve got to have a package of players the Royals are interested in. He’s their #5 so I would say our top 3 only are off limits. Jung, Winn and Leiter.

What are the chances that the Royals, being one of the cheapest teams in baseball, are planning on eventually trading Perez and going with the much cheaper Melendez?

Not interested in trading 2 or 3 of our top quality prospects right now.

It is hard to believe that this franchise produced two all star caliber catchers in its first 20 years of existence, but nothing close to that since.

It's not like other teams are pumping them out left and right. In fact, only a handful can say they've produced one that's even comparable to Pudge.

No, no, I didn't mean anything like Pudge. That is why I mentioned all star caliber and not HOF caliber.
