have no fear, there's like 7-10 'starting goalies' available this summer depending on your definition of 'starting goalie'.. i'm just praying homer doesn't pull another 'bryz for 9 years, 53 mil' when the next best, and arguably equally talented vokoun signed for like 1 yr 1.5 mil.

saturated goalie market, learn from it!

It's a who's who of guys who have HAD success. Luongo, Miller, Halak, possibly Backstrom. Apparently the Pens management don't like the market. Hard to blame them really. None of those guys really blow you away. Of course, they could easily have new life in a new market (sans Philly of course :P), but the Pens really can't be a team leaning on that, can they?

I think Feaster is trying to move up higher in the draft, but the prices are pretty high. I wouldn't be surprised if teams are asking for Brodie and/or Baertschi to which I would be angry if he sends them packing. Might as well select the best player remaining with pick 6 and see who you can nab with picks 22 and 28 in the first round (If Petan is still on the board at 28, run to the podium).

What would Feaster need to move down? And by "down" I mean two first round picks just way later. Would pretty much guarantee you get Petan :)

Also, the Jackets may be in the goalie Market suddenly (shuddup mattola). Seems like Bob is listening to his idiot agent.

Bobrovsky Talks Not Moving | BlueJackets Xtra

If he signs in Russia, he's the dumbest person on earth. Worst case scenario for him. Worst case for the Jackets is they allow someone else to determine his price with an offer sheet. I would have to think that the Jackets will match anything thrown at him because they have cap space. But will JD let it happen if it's detrimental to the team. That is the question.

Thank God TO got Bernier, they won't be throwing stupid money. Philly can't, although it would be funny if they tried. Only teams that have money and need a goalie aren't prone to throwing cash around.

I could be quite comfortable with Ryan Miller in the CBJ Crease.

I would imagine getting Miller would take at least one of those 1st rounders. Probably the highest of the 3 unless a good prospect went back too.

How about Ryan Johansen and Cam Atkinson for pick 6?

You need to lay off the cough syrup.

Cody Golubef and both later picks?

Are you rebuilding or are you rebuilding?

4 first rounders and a solid young D man is a pretty good haul for a draft day.

Tell you what, you can have Blake Comeau back.

I wish I could be a GM just to send this to someone in response to a stupid offer. Of course, I'd probably have a short career after that. Actually I'd have a short career in general. I can't even haggle over the price of goods in central america...

Akin to throwing an anvil to a drowning man - Getting rid of Blake Comeau was one of Feaster's better moves (although a) he shouldn't have picked him off waivers in the first place and b) re-signed him )

So the Wild are kicking the tires on MAF. Heh. The more I think about it, the less comfortable I am about moving him. If it's a worthy deal, do it...but you'd basically have to have a plan in place to get another starter ASAP.

If they moved him for a draft pick and could get that cap hit off their charts for 2 years from now, that would be huge. With the way he's played in the last 3-4 playoffs especially, I don't know how you can do much worse regardless of who is in there. If he's still on the books after next year, they are looking at roughly $26 million to sign about 18 players. That extra $5 million could be very useful to the Pens with that future cap situation. And it could be useful NOW as well if they want to add a piece to give this crew one more chance before some likely significant changes in '14-'15.

I agree that for the postseason, someone beyond MAF makes sense...but he DOES win in the regular season. That still is important. Hard to replace 60 games and about 40 wins. Especially if they do end up moving Letang. I agree that moving that salary would be nice, but whomever they get to replace him has to step in to fill that role. Obviously the team in front of any Pens goalie will help get Ws with offensive prowess alone. I tend to think Shero will keep him. I AM a bit intrigued as to how he'll do with a new goalie coach. He's had Meloche his whole career, and while he made adjustments to his game after his first few seasons in the NHL, he hasn't really done toooo much since.

Bingo!

As a Caps' fan, I would love for them to keep him. :) And I think you are right about Shero having him stick around, especially since there seemed to be a vote of confidence for him after the series was over. I just think they could find a backup/guy in the system to split for the season with Vokoun and be in no worse shape (or better) at goalie next year. And in the meantime, you could add a strong D-man or some stronger 3rd line players with an extra $4 million or so.

@SWhyno 2m As 1st reported by @Russostrib, #MNWild sign G Niklas Backstrom to 3-year deal. Goalie dominoes falling after Bernier trade.

DOMINOES!

They did sign that college kid...best goalie in the NCAA...I just don't see them taking that chance.

An UFA to be making 6.25M next year who ticked off his team beyond words. I would be shocked if some team gave up a 1st round pick for Miller. Especially considering all the goalies availble for trade & the UFA market. It's a buyers market. Lombardi wanted a lot more than what he ended up getting for Bernier. I look at Miller the same way I look at Luongo. Salary Dump.

That's really the issue both teams will have. Very limited as to who will be interested. Not a TON of teams will look into picking up a goalie, and of those in the market, how many are able to take on that type of cap hit? And generally, the teams with the cap space are probably more interested in a youth/long term investment.
