Here are the top 7 centers in the draft (none have been taken yet). I would imagine one of these guys would still be available in the 4th and even the 5th round. I would be happy with any of them.

right, take a RB round 2 and let OL wait til later. makes total sense, so thats probably what they will do.

I felt like Will Anderson was who the Seahawks had at the top of their board, plan B was trade down, Witherson was plan C.

Joey Hunt is the only C on the depth chart, according to ESPN. we need a center very badly.

We signed a center as well. Evan Brown.

Very well could be, and I heard reports from "insiders" saying they were working the phones when on the clock at 5. Just heard a brief audio clip on 710 of JS fielding a question from Gregg Bell (my west point classmate) about whether taking Witherspoon was a case of talent over need, and Schneider answered in the affirmative and made a comment that they recognize they need help on the DL. Clearly they did not want to roll the dice on Carter that early.

Both our first round picks made the Hawks better just not in our Big needs area. CB at 5 was a shocker because they still have a developing Brown, Bryant and Jackson to pair with Woolen that I believe in I guess more than the coaches.

Didn't someone link a Mock draft a few weeks ago that had the Hawks picking CB/WR with their first two picks? I swear to god someone linked a mock that did just that. The same two players also and had the Texans picking 2nd and 3rd.

I think Young and Stroud both turn to busts after simi successful starts.

I saw a couple mocks over the months where it was Christian Gonzalez (never saw Witherspoon) but someone mocked a CB so props to whoever did that.

I saw several mocks have us taking Jaxon (even Walterfootball had a few mocks that did - no surprise he gave us an A+ grade lol). WR was IMO semi big need. Lockett is not getting any younger and was getting injured some last year, and we have really NOBODY else behind Lockett/Metcalf. Lockett might be playing his last year here and Jaxon projects to be the best slot WR in quite a while. A slot WR in the 1st? Eh, not unheard of, not uncommon, but again Jaxon projects very well at that position which we certainly had to fill.

The Witherspoon pick I get (he plays with the toughness/tackling mentality Pete loves) but the position just made zero sense to me. I know Pete/John are just doing BPA at this point, but we really need to help the front 7 of that D.

I mean end of day Seattle's WR and CB positions are stacked at the moment. Hopefully Jaxon isn't Eskridge 2.0.

brown looks like a career backup, we need a starter.
No center been drafted yet so Seahawks should be able to find one and only one ILB (Campbell) off the board.

Brown was fine as a center last year. He should be fine this year. I would be happy with Stromberg/Oluwatimi/Forsyth as the backup this season and transition them to starter in 2024. Too many bigger holes need to be filled with our next three picks.

Someone made the comment, explain to me how a corner and a receiver helps stop the run ? Good question, which is why we BETTER go DL today, maybe 2 DL’s with the next 3 picks, we must address that need even though we did bring Bobby back, did get Dremont, and brought back Reed, which helps, BUT we need a Wilfork type NT like a mouse needs cheese … Reporter asked John about that and he acknowledged the need …

Nine teams passed on Jalen Carter. Yes I am counting the Bears passing on him. One team the Cardinals passed on him twice.

Teams just don’t feel he as good as many of the fans do.

We want to run a three four, what we need the most is a solid nose tackle. You don’t use a high pick to obtain a nose tackle.

The top three ranked nose tackles were Mazi Smith, Benton and Siaki Ika. Two of those guys are still available.

 Maybe......

@boogiewithstu2007

They'd save about $9M with a post 6/1 release (although we take a $14M hit in 2024 - but I'm sure can absorb that).

Entirely possible. They seem to like Fant... and Carroll has already said Adams is progressing but may not be ready to go.

We picked the top ranked player at two positions.

To put that into perspective, only once in the 13 years that John and Pete have drafted the top ranked player at their position. That was Michael Dixon, our punter.

You don’t give up as much as we did to obtain Adams just to bail because he got injured

Filling needs is fine, but the most important thing is to get good players. We got the pick of the litter at both CB and WR in a passing league. Hard for me to be all up in arms about that, so I think these players will be great additions so long as they end up being what we think they are.

Unless you think he’s he’s just not the same player because of the injury…
