Unless you think he’s he’s just not the same player because of the injury…
But the fan does not have access to the medical reports so their opinion is based on speculation not fact

Brown was fine as a center last year. He should be fine this year. I would be happy with Stromberg/Oluwatimi/Forsyth as the backup this season and transition them to starter in 2024. Too many bigger holes need to be filled with our next three picks.
Someone like Steve Avila who can play both Center and Guard may be tempting for the Seahawks.

Someone made the comment, explain to me how a corner and a receiver helps stop the run ? Good question, which is why we BETTER go DL today, maybe 2 DL’s with the next 3 picks, we must address that need even though we did bring Bobby back, did get Dremont, and brought back Reed, which helps, BUT we need a Wilfork type NT like a mouse needs cheese … Reporter asked John about that and he acknowledged the need …

ILB needs to be addressed as well.

Brooks may be on IR the entire season (given how late his injury was last year). That leaves us with Wagner (very good player granted) and Bush.

Bush hasn't done much since returning from his injury (and never did much to begin with) and Wagner is going to be 33 before the season starts. Bush is also better on pass downs, he's TERRIBLE against the run. There's NOBODY behind them... And you're right, we need another DL as well.

I'd hope the second round today is ILB and Center... And then go DL rounds 3/4. Jones and Reed add the pass rush element. As someone in this thread pointed out (maybe it was you Boogs lol) earlier, the run stuffers can be had a bit later.

Been mocking him to Seattle constantly... I'd prefer we grab best ILB on the board with our first 2nd, Steve should be there with our second 2nd.

I prefer to grab the best player available on the Seahawks board regardless of position. After the draft we can redo some contracts and fill the holes with free agents.

Absolutely, and I would be fine with him being our next pick, but then the following two picks HAVE to be DL/DE. I imagine a lot of DE's are going to come off the board in the 2nd round so hopefully we get our guy then rather than hoping someone is still around in the 3rd.

And we did sign free agents Jarran Reed & Dremont Jones on the DL.

The most interesting thing to me right now about the reaction on this board to yesterday's picks is that after the free agent moves the prevailing opinion here was that the team now set themselves up with great flexibility in the draft and not have to be funneled into picking a specific player/position. Now that the team did exactly that, the criticism for not taking a specific player/position is flying.

Its frustrating because they have had 14 drafts now and still cant figure out how to draft in round 1.
By the end of the year we will be looking at a playoff loss wishing we had invested in the DL. Would be a shame if its against the eagles.

And yet they still make mistakes on the regular
Yeah, but we’ll know more down the road if our picks were mistakes.. Gonna have to let it play out… Pete was saying Witherspoon reminds him of Troy Polamalu… That’s a large statement!

We need to free up about four million cap space to sign our rookie FAs.

Here is a wild idea, draft Levi’s and cut Lock.

ILB... I think the run stuffing DTs/DEs can be had later. Reed/Jones are already pass rushing lineman.

I think the top tier DE will be gone by round two. Is there any ILB other than Sanders or Simpson that are worthy of a second round pick?

I suppose I could live with Simpson and Avila as our second round guys but then we still have massive holes on that D line.

That's what I'm honestly hoping for... Simpson and Avila... back to back in the 2nd round... It does leave us with a hole on the DL but only in run blocking, which I think we can shore up with our 3rd and 4th.

Course to your point, we might have to sacrifice both positions as there's literally nobody on the roster for 2 out of the 3 DL spots...

I'd rather punt on Avila and get something to help the DL. There can be some guard depth later in the draft but they won't be starting game 1. Without a day 1 starter on the DL line in this draft, we're going to lose games because of it.

Pick 5 - Devon Witherspoon

Love it. I know there's some who think that we should've gone another direction - and the history has been that Seattle can make later round CBs work - but we haven't been in a position to draft the top CB under Pete. People seem to be putting blinders on and are forgetting that our corners weren't great last year outside Woolen. Even Bryant, who many have pegged as being better if they move him outside, struggled many times last season. Bryant put up LB coverage numbers last year. If Witherspoon lives up to expectations, Seattle will have the best CB tandem in the league for the next 3 years under rookie deals. Teams won't be able to completely neutralize Woolen by just throwing at Jackson and Bryant this year.

Pick 20 - Jaxon Smith-Njiba

I'm good with this one. I see this as a preparing for life after Lockett. Everything I see about the kid kind've screams Lockett. I know Lockett is faster, but after the foot injury Lockett has relied on technique, quickness (not speed) and hands to be what he's become. Getting more receivers who will mimic that profile will be a huge benefit to Smith as the ability to get the ball to someone who'll be where he's supposed to be and make the catch is imperative if Smith wants to duplicate his performance this last season.

I'm fine with Jaxon. There is NOBODY after Lockett/Metcalf, but add Jaxon and Waldron's TE sets and our passing game should be unstoppable.

What's very interesting to me, is Seattle seems to actually be transitioning to what the NFL is forcing teams to do... heavy offensive weapons, passing attack, and then defenders that stop the passing attack. Now you could argue the front 7 does that, but good corners are also required.

Seems Seattle has completely gone away from Pete's philosophy of smash mouth defense and run the ball. Everything we did this offseason including the 1st round is tailored towards passing the ball and defending the pass. All the FA acquisitions we acquired (Reed, Jones, and even Bush) are pass defenders. Love, pass defender and expert nickel player...

They've basically given up on 'playing the run'. And Walker is not a smash mouth running back anyway, he's a shifty outside the box runner. It's not a traditional hard nose RB.
