I’m sure someone is “hurting” right now. And Ahmed could be let go. After all, the rationale about moving on from Crawford and signing Ahmed is that it would be easier to transfer to Luciano when he was ready.
Except that Ahmed is playing elite D. Any hitting is a bonus from him.

/checks Baseball Reference page.

Dude is a phuking TRAIN WRECK at the plate. You're probably right, an OPS+ of 65 can't be sustained, even in the 9 hole.

Well, your sarcastic comment would make sense, if half of this lineup was hitting above league average. They get close when Wade is in the lineup but when Flores hits, there are 3 players currently sporting an OPS+ over 100.

No sarcasm...I didn't realize just how bad he is at the plate.

Some notes from Farhan Zaidi on KNBR earlier this week:

-Zaidi said that Heliot Ramos is “definitely on the radar” and “working his way into the picture.”
-said that Mason Black will be considered for the open rotation spot

At some point we need to promote the younger better players up and trade older players for prospects to replace the ones coming up. Id rather lose with a young team then lose with older players

Too early for the season punt. Besides, ownership will NEVER allow a full estate sale.

If this season continues to go sideways I would hope they see that the plan (whatever it has been) isn’t working and really focus on building up more prospects through trades. I know it won’t happen but one can dream.

Who can we trade to build the system?

IMHO ... this is a major contributor to our problems. I also feel that this current organization has no real desire to 'build' the organization. What I see (personal view) is an organization that is desperate to reach the playoffs NOW. I don’t see any of the recent acquisitions as long term building blocks. For me they were all 'win now' acquisitions. Most were short term acquisitions at a rather high cost. Snell, Solar and Chapman are examples of that. The only one close to a building bock is Lee and he has an opt out as well.
Season isn't over yet but this still looks like a bunch of players with no real cohesion to speak of. I don't believe that FZ has much interest in either the past or the future. I think he is locked into today .... and he really doesn’t know how to change a bunch of 'purchases' into an actual team. For me personally ... Posey was the heart, soul and glue for this franchise .... and FZ hasn't been able to find that missing piece ...

Not much to say. The kids were 0-12 with RISP. The last two hitters saw six pitches, all strikes, down the middle, and swung at exactly none of them. The Giants' Way, evidently.

I will say that this kid may be someone to watch.

Seems early for the ACL to start. And there is only one team in the ACL this year? I guess that is where most of the minor league player reductions are at

FZ would be an ELITE #2 guy in the org. As a #1, though, he just comes up wanting.
Very interesting statement. Back in the early 1990s I was a comsultant to one of the largest banks in NY. I had the fortune to worki side by side with both the No 1 and No 2 people in that origanization. The No 1 guy was MUCH more of a visionary than any oerson I had ever met. All his energies were spent on where he wanted the organization to be tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. His thought process was astoishing. But. From my perspective he could never see what was happening today nor did he have a skill set to manage. He also didn't really have an interest in dealing with staff. The other guy was the COO and he was all about today and managing the organzation. I never really saw much vision talking with him but he sure as hell knew how to build a path to reach that vision's objective. He knew what was needed and how to get there.
A great No 1 and No 2 pairing. Probably the most enlightening work experience of my life. Very different skills but a real powerhouse when used together. They key that made it work was that they both knew each others skolls and respected each other for them. Not sure where FZ is in that situation though. I jthink he has a vision but no real plan how to attain it or he has no vision at all is trying to manage to an undefined outcome.

Awesome anecdote. And your story makes a pretty good argument for FZ as a 1.

But I meant it in a bit more micro-scale. FZ is great at filling in the fringe. He has the ability to find Hicks or Yaz or Wade. But he has no ability to provide the bulk. He scratches lottery tickets like nobody’s business, but he has never heard of the DOW.

Make him Farm Director/Asst GM. In baseball terms, I think that is where his expertise resides.
