So you are predicting a 2002 rematch in the 2030 World Series?Alas, DSL Giants Black lost their semifinal series to the Angels by losing Game 3 today, 5-4.
Overall, a very solid season by these mostly 17-19 year olds. They had the best record by far in the entire DSL.

He seems to keep getting better as the season progresses.Bryce Eldridge, the Giants No. 1 prospect, this week at High-A
4 homers
7 XBH
3 multihit games
He is hitting .329 with a 1.040 OPS (45 games)
He very well could get his cuppo next year and be ready to take over in ‘26. I am good with going into ‘25 with Wade/Cannha.He seems to keep getting better as the season progresses.
I agree and I think this is what they will do. LWJ can become a nice OF/1b utility guy.He very well could get his cuppo next year and be ready to take over in ‘26. I am good with going into ‘25 with Wade/Cannha.
Don't want to get ahead of myself but this is exactly the kind of possible superstar bat the Giants never seem to draftBryce Eldridge is slashing .329/.437/.605 with 11 home runs and 39 RBI in 206 plate appearances with Eugene. This includes a 16.0% BB rate and a 24.8% K rate. His 184 wRC+ is second in High-A among hitters with at least 200 plate appearances.
Dude is 19.
Tojo, Chris Shaw, Belt, Vaun…Don't want to get ahead of myself but this is exactly the kind of possible superstar bat the Giants never seem to draft
Way too early to know but he's doing what you need to see at the first stage to possibly get there.
Exactly but did any of those put up these kinds of numbers? Especially so young?Tojo, Chris Shaw, Belt, Vaun…
Not to poop on Eldridge. I am very excited about him (and am GLADLY savoring my dish of crow after criticizing his pick last year), but we have seen many players bust on to the scene in the past.
I don’t think ToJo or Shaw did but Belt very much did and Vaun Brown got attention for his gaudy numbers. The big difference for me is age. Eldridge is younger than Shaw, Belt and Brown were at the same stage of their careers (don’t remember Joseph’s age).Exactly but did any of those put up these kinds of numbers? Especially so young?
Thanks I pay little attention to the minors, only know what I read here and what the broadcasters and writers say about them when they get called up or close to it.I don’t think ToJo or Shaw did but Belt very much did and Vaun Brown got attention for his gaudy numbers. I am not looking at the stats atm, but Tojo and Shaw, I seem to remember, both absolutely CRUSHED. And Belt wasn’t a HUGE power guy, but he was an OBP guy from day 1.Exactly but did any of those put up these kinds of numbers? Especially so young?
Just feels like he’s a little different, but that’s coming from someone who doesn’t pay close attention to the minors as I saidI am not looking at the stats atm, but Tojo and Shaw, I seem to remember, both absolutely CRUSHED. And Belt wasn’t a HUGE power guy, but he was an OBP guy from day 1.
Have you actually seen him? I have not. But, like you, I am super excited about him. I would compare my excite for him to the excitement I had for ToJo and Belt (meaning VERY excited).Just feels like he’s a little different, but that’s coming from someone who doesn’t pay close attention to the minors as I said
One thing going for us is that even a generally bad drafting organization like the Giants have been, even they can get lucky and get a very big star just by random odds.Have you actually seen him? I have not. But, like you, I am super excited about him. I would compare my excite for him to the excitement I had for ToJo and Belt (meaning VERY excited).
But until he actually shows up, he is nothing. I learned from Alderson. I learned from Villalona. I learned from Cabrera. I learned from Fox (all sizzle, no fire, there - he is already out of baseball).
