The DSL Giants Black team which had the best record by far in the DSL lost its semi-final playoff game yesterday, 7-5.

They won today, scoring 2 in the top of the 9th to win 3-2.

I believe the semi-final series is best of three, as the first game was home, the second away, game 3 will be at home tomorrow.

Hard to analyze the effectiveness of pitchers at that level, but there appears to be 3 legit bats on that team who are super young and may be stateside next year…

Guzman
Level
Villegas

Though, these 3 are are all young enough that even if they repeat the DSL, that cannot be taken as any kind of knock on their prospect-ness. We have talked about Guzman and Level here already. I am not sure we have brought up Villegas before, though.

1st place San Jose is again clobbering 2nd place Modesto (in Modesto) tonight, 14-2 in the 9th

Lisbel Diaz Stats, Age, Position, Height, Weight, Fantasy & News is 5-6 with 4 runs and an RBI. He is 19 years old.

Robert Hipwell Stats, Age, Position, Height, Weight, Fantasy & News is 2-6 with 4 RBI and a triple

Walker Martin Stats, Age, Position, Height, Weight, Fantasy & News is 1-3 with a run scored, 3 walks, 2 K's

The win puts San Jose 2.5 games ahead of Modesto, and 2 in the loss column.

The Mrs and I are going to tomorrow's game. May be the last time we see San Jose play in Modesto.

Do you really think Modesto's ballclub won't get picked up by another organization?

The club will play, just elsewhere. That's the word around here.

Manfred and MLB have mandated $35 million in improvements in minor league stadiums to bring them up to some minimal standard, and there is no way that can happen in smaller markets like Modesto. I can't imagine it happening in even smaller markets!

MLB ought to foot some of that bill, unless they are already doing so. The players in the minors are their future, and so they should invest in the future.

But what are the RiverCats doing next season. They aren’t really going to share a stadium with a MLB team, are they?

I cannot imagine that working so well but I would think the area would want to keep a hold of the RiverCats' franchise for the season the A's finally move to Las Vegas. Its a bit of a catch 22 for them.

DSL Giants Black lost the first Semifinal game to the DSL Angels team today, 3-1.

The Giants had 3 hits and 7 walks, but were only 1-10 with RISP, just like they teach 'em in San Francisco.

Game 2 tomorrow.
Well, I guess the Giants do have a hitting philosophy taught from the start.

Just found out the ACL season ended in late July. I thought they usually played until early September. Guess that explains why most of the 2024 draft picks haven't played this year. Only position players have been assigned to any clubs and not even all of them.

Don't want to jinx it, but the DSL Giants Black team is leading the DSL Angels 12-3 in the 8th inning in game two. A win by Black gives them game 3 at home. Winner of game 3 goes to the DSL finals.
I believe Doval is still with the big club, so I think they are probably safe…
