His signing puzzled me initially, but hey, he is a middle infielder, and we KNOW FZ loves him some middle infielders.
He has a name and did ok earlier in his career. I actually thought it was not a bad pickup (for a minor league signing)

Eldridge has his seventh knock -- third extra-base hit -- in seven games for Double-A Richmond.

Dude is COMING.
AA is a different beast from the lower levels. And this is his first bomb there. He has only been there a week, and while he isn’t blowing it up, be doesn’t appear to be intimidated by it either.

I am trying to not get TOO excited, but that is an active job that is hard to keep up.

Yes Double A is like an all star team of Single A Teams so this is where star players show something to separate them from the others trying to make the Bigs.

And where most hitters with promise go to see their careers die out. If he can hit there, he could probably hit anywhere.

Crazy how nobody is talking about a 20 year old switch hitting ss hitting .311 in AA

He is doing OK, but a .370 SLG indicates that that kind of BA will not translate moving forward.

He is 20, though, in AA. He isn’t supposed to be complete yet. And he probably should be getting more love from us, here. He has legit pedigree, and is a legit prospect.

The Squirrel‘s season is over.

While good news is better than bad news, there is context here. This is not the same as a mid season promotion. They just want to get him every last possible AB. That is good, but calling it a ”promotion”, while technically accurate, is misleading.

They could have told him to take a break, like the rest of the Flying Squirrels. It still counts as a promotion.

What if he continues to play well, then would it count as a promotion?

This is true, he's only in Sac b/c Richmond's season is done. Then again, it keeps him hitting without much of a break before the AFL. I think that is the developmental plan.

It still counts as a promotion if he DOESNT hit.

I am not saying it isn’t a good thing or that it isn’t a promotion. I am just adding context.

This season, Arraez has a SLG of .391.

I will take that, along with all the other things he does, wouldn't you?

Not comparing the two, but a 20-yo in AA hitting that well is impressive.
