In AA and has a CAREER .496 OBP.

No idea what his defense is like, but if his bat stays like that, I will accept Joc-level defense from him. Though he may need to work on his thump a bit. With no power, it is hard to live at the MLB level.

Good news: Mike Yastrzemski, who was immediately removed after a HBP to the foot last night, is back in the lineup today for Sacramento.

Harrison with another meh line…

3 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 3 K

He isn’t blowing up or losing his shine, but he is having a rough year in Sacto.

4.79 ERA, 1.562 WHIP, 7.0 BB/9 (!!)

He does have 14.7 K/9, though.

Did he throw a lot of pitches? Weird that he got pulled after 3 innings, unless the Giants are either (A) really cautious about his workload this year, (B) intend to use him as an opener in the big leagues, or (C) all of the above.

I have no idea. Just looking at his line, I would guess his pitch count may have been a bit high. That, and he doesn’t look like he was very effective.

Unfortunately, his game log, while having a column for number of pitches, doesn't actually show his pitches thrown in each game.
I find it interesting that, no matter how he does, he has not exceeded 5 innings in any start this season. In fact, he has exceeded 4 innings only twice.

Prepping him for the way the big team does it ?

If you look at Sacramento's "rotation" it is a huge trend. They don't have any traditional starters, outside of maybe Drew Strotman (who looks horrible, by the way, according to his numbers). They are leaning big time on openers and have the ability to do so by carrying 15 to 16 pitchers on the roster.

Giants top prospect Kyle Harrison suffered a “moderate” right hamstring strain while training between starts, SFG announces. He won’t pitch in the Futures Game and will be reassessed during the break. Manager Gabe Kapler didn’t share additional information.

Well, 2023 isn't going as we planned for him.

Luis Gonzalez is ramping up baseball activity in Arizona and could be an option for the Giants in August, Farhan Zaidi said. Heliot Ramos (oblique) is looking good in Triple-A and is eligible to come off 60-day on July 18. Giants still expect Mitch Haniger back around Sept. 1.

Extra options, but those create roster crunches.

Churn, baby, churn.

Keith Law was just on with Marty on KNBR.

He was gushing about Whisenhunt, but if you actually listen to what he said, I think he was actually pouring water on the heat that surrounds him right now. He projected him as a 4/5 MLB starter (maybe 3), and that he might make it to the bigs before Harrison, but just because the Giants don’t really care about stunting his growth.

Disappointing scouting report.

He's one voice. He's knowledgeable but only one voice.

The draft is today, and we have a bonus pool of $9.9M, which includes a compensatory pick for Carlos Rodón signing with the Yankees. We have the following picks today:
No. 16, No. 52, and No. 69 (compensatory pick)

Teams can spend up to 5% above their bonus pool allotment without loss of future picks. The Giants have generally been close to that 5% threshold recently where there is a 75% tax on the overage.

That is correct. I believe that Howell and Birdsong are now in Eugene, Bericoto is now in Richmond and Matos, of course, is now in San Francisco.

Nice to see Wilson developing some pop. With his defensive abilities and flexibility, having some pop will help him become the journeyman Util inf that I expect him to ultimately be.
