I would like to see Shaw get his cuppo this year, but his defense is BAD. And if the Giants do want to flip him for SOMETHING else this off season, maybe it is wise to not expose him to AT&T and MLB pitching.

Sabes said there will be BIG changes this off season. I read that as Bum. And if Shaw can turn into some serious salary relief (Longo?? Sammy??) and a lottery ticket or two, maybe that makes sense.
If I were a big league team looking at acquiring Shaw, wouldn't I question his ability if, after the minor league season he's had, the general lack of upper level prospects in the Giants' farm and the lack of production from left field in SF, he doesn't get called up in September? I would think that NOT getting called up would hurt his value more than being called up and not doing well.

Oh and big changes scares me. It sounds like code for reshuffle, gut the farm and play more mediocre baseball. Sounds like the mid 80s, mid 90s or mid 00s all over again (thankfully, the mid 10s were much better).

Adon is struggling on his rehab in Arizona, which isn't really ideal. Was hoping Adon would have a big year and climb to AA at least, but he's instead been pretty inconsistent. He's rule V eligible and recently recognized as having the best fastball in the Cal League per Baseball America, but he's not really earning a roster spot.

If you subscribe to the Athletic, this is a good read on Joey Bart Deeply rooted: Giants future star Joey Bart is determined to...

A few interesting nuggets:

The Giants planned all along for Bart to spend the entire season in Salem, partly because of how much they wore out Posey after he was drafted. He plays 4 games at catcher, on at DH and then an off-day. So he was never going to move up to Augusta (unless they made the playoffs, I still bet).

Also Greg Santos is okay and recently threw a bullpen. Amazing news for the kid.

In the last 9 games, Richmond has scored 11 runs. Really good preparation to be Giants.

Richmond and Augusta have fallen off a cliff lately. At one point, they were well over .500. Now, not so much. Augusta was 21 games over .500 at one point.

Most of Augusta's better pitching were promoted to San Jose and their offense never really got off the ground.

Posted this in the News thread. Interesting group. Forrest Whitley, Taylor Trammell, Sixto Sanchez and Pete Alonso will alos be on the team. Definitely a good year to go down if you're considering it (I know Stokes will).

I will be there the second week (10/14-21) or thereabouts. Season begins on Tuesday the 9th.

Come join the fun. Looks like a good crop of players. Garcia was in the AFL last year. He averaged almost an RBI per game played, though he had no plate patience at all (I think he walked twice in the six weeks!).

Hotels are cheap, MUCH cheaper than Spring Training. Hit me up, I'll buy you a beer.
