Has anyone heard a scouting report on Arroyo's defense? I really get the sense that he will start getting serious rotation next year, maybe even as early as next month. But he is new to 3B and I seem to remember reading at about the time he was drafted that his arm is not quite a rocket. Has anyone heard anything more recent?

I read that his speed is more of a concern than his arm. He won't be able to play SS long term because he lacks the speed. What I saw said he had a strong arm that would support the move to 3B. In fact, they said it was one of his best skills and he could even possibly play catcher. I don't think anyone is willing to take a stand on his D until he settles on a position (or rather they settle on one for him). I recall a score of 35 out of 50...so above average maybe?

DSL Giants vs. DSL Orioles2 - August 4, 2016 | MiLB.com Box | The Official Site of Minor League Baseball

Tomorrow's Probables:

Sacramento (AAA) - Blach (11-6, 3.54)
Sacramento (AAA) - Game 2 TBD
Richmond (AA) - TBD
San Jose (A+) - Morel, J (2-5, 5.09)
Augusta (A) - Watson (3-5, 4.27)
Salem-Keizer (SS-A) - Williams, G (0-0, 6.75)
DSL- TBD
AZL- DNP

San Jose gave up the tying run with 2 outs in the 9th inning, then lost in 11. Seemed to be a theme for the young Giants today (and luckily not the big Giants).

Steven Duggar! 17 game hit-streak going. Dude is a stud, Giants were fortunate to keep this kid around past this deadline. He's still a bit of a secret, but not for long. Has no one spectacular tool, but does everything well and plays CF.

Looks like Shaw is getting things going. Good to see.

What a game from Beedeh. Was hitting 95 mph early, still sitting 94 by the 6th inning. Real encouraging stuff.

Above average arm strength. Yesterday, he made a nice backhanded pick on a hard line-drive to start a 5-4-3 DP. Like FX said above, his range is what was going to boot him off SS. His glovework and arm strength are adequate.

It seems that, once again, the Giants know which prospect SPs to trade and which to keep.

I think yesterday was 16 games for Duggar, and today extended it to 17. Raised his average from .200 to .333 during this streak.

Too bad Bennett doesn't have much of a future with the organization, beyond organizational filler. He's was signed out of indy ball and is one of the guys they use to temporarily fill roster spots throughout the farm. Right now, he is trying his best to get his foot in the door.

Yeah probably not. He bounced around every team June, but has stuck with the San Jose club since June 30th and really hit his stride then.

So, Chuckie Jones unretired? And upon doing so, the Giants place him on the restricted list with San Jose? That may just be a technicality to give him time to set into some semblance of playing shape. Still, inquiring minds want to know just what the heck is up with all of this. Maybe he decided selling Lady Kenmore's wasn't as much fun as playing ball.

He's been placed on the restricted list because he was suspended for 100 games. This was part of the reason he retired last November, because he caught wind that the suspension was looming. But you're right on the last part, selling door-to-door was less fun for him than playing baseball. Or maybe he figured he'd do both for now.

Oh, yeah, the suspension, I forgot about that. Now I'm REALLY curious...since he retired and now has UNretired, does the 100 game clock start ticking now, or will they count the games he missed post-retirement? If it's the first option, then sheesh, he really effed up because that would mean he's out until well into next season.
