Marvin Jones has had like 3 good games in 3 seasons.

He shouldn't be considered reliable, productive, or a sure thing, nor should his roster spot be guaranteed to him.

Sure it should. It's the Bengals! Hell, Tate is still on this team. He's worlds better than Tate. If they've kept Tate this long, how long do you think they'll keep Jones around?

We won't be drafting any WR of note. Might as well just accept this now. They think Marvin Jones is the second coming of Cris Carter because he had one huge game against the Jets in 2013. Therefore he will be here for life. When he inevitably breaks every bone in his body in training camp, we will be stuck with Tate and Sanu behind Green again. Same shit different day. We are the Bengals. We cling to shit like a life preserver.

For the record, there are only a handful of players whose roster spots should be guaranteed. AJ Green, Hill, Bernard, Whitworth, Boling, Zeitler, Atkins, Adam Jones, Dunlap, MJ and Dennard. As far as I'm concerned everybody else could stand to be upgraded or should have to compete for reps/a roster spot. But we are the Bengals. So yeah. Fuck us all.

I'd argue against Bernard, but then I remember that he is still cheap. So yes, his is guaranteed.

I'd probably add Iloka and Nelson to the list simply because they are above average at their positions and they don't cost a lot of money.

If the Bengals used their RBs correctly, Gio would be the man. Marvin wants him to be a regular RB. They're going to "Reggie Bush" him.

Be what man? Either are coaches don't know how to use him, or other teams caught up to him. Aside from that big run against Carolina, he was ineffective as a runner in a traditional sense..... And the catching the ball out of the backfield thing doesn't help much when the D knows its coming. His best plays were improvs..... So it's either that we can't coach him or he's too limited. Either way, as long as Hill is healthy, he's a third down back at best.

He can do a lot. He can run. He's a fine change of pace in that respect. Put him out there with Hill in 2 back sets. Put him in the slot. Run him on bubble screens. Marvin just wants him to run it up the middle. Poor coaching. I'll take Gio on my team.

I have been saying all last year to do that with Gio. But that seems too out of the box for Marvin and the staff to do. Why can't Gio be a Marshall Faulk type back? Not saying he would be as good, but he can be a jack of all trades and it gets him on the field more frequently, which at that point makes him a lot less predictable. Because if he is on the field all the time, you have no idea what is coming. If you only bring him in to catch the screen, well, the defense knows what his role is. Just too predictable and I think Gio is athletic enough and smart enough to pull off the jack of all trades role.

If the Bengals wanted to move on from Bernard he'd have legitimate trade value. Otherwise I'd say he should be a lock to make the roster

The Bengals had Green Beckham for visit recently. If they needed a WR with that skillset I'd love that as a gamble pick late in the 1st rd. But he seem like a classic X receiver. I'm not sure he and AJ Green would complement each other's game.

As far as WRs I want to be on a record one last time as Denarius Moore'e biggest fan. He has talent. I think he can be another Bengals reclamation project that works out for them

This^^ what a fucking surprise. A big time talent that our retard coaches don't know how to implement in the gameplan properly. Bernard would be a nightmare somewhere like NO or NE that actually know how to use a RB like him.

The Chiefs killed the patriots the week before we played them by putting Charles out in the slot. Not once did the bengals try that with gio.

I honestly don't understand what our coaches look at on film. Or why they think running a 5'9 200 lb scat back into a brick wall is the recipe for success. It's honestly not that hard to look around the league and see what other teams are doing with personel. It's a copycat league. The only thing we supposedly copy from other teams is not participating in FA.

Which current NFL teams are playing two tailbacks on the field at the same time?

Most of the stuff about '2 backs' comes from people talking about Ickey Woods and James Brooks - That was a completely different sport.

As for Marshall Falk - He was a legendary talent and he happened to play with a quarterback that scared everyone.

Giovani Bernard is not Marshall Faulk. Not even close.

However, it's not that fucking hard to figure out what he is. A pass catching, change of pace back to complement a battering ram type RB(Hill). Therefore, using him like a Shane Vereen, CJ Spiller, or Darren Sproles type shouldn't be rocket science. Line him up in the slot, motion him out of the backfield, or line Dalton up in the gun with Hill and Bernard on either side. Create options. Be creative. Try something new. Don't just run the same fucking flare out into the flat that gets blown up every time. For fucks sake it's not that hard to accidentally be good at something occasionally.

Exactly. Gio can do everything Spiller/Sproles can do. The Bengals choose to just use him as the backup/between the tackles RB. Idiotic misuse. Chip Kelly would make him a star.

Interestingly, the only time we really got creative was when all of our receivers were hurt. It was nice seeing Rex running patterns out of the slot. It was effective too.

I don't think they should consider Sanu a lock. He's not dependable at all when the game is on the line.

The problem with Sanu is he's the best quarterback on the team
