Just read a tweet that Mathews hasn't actually signed his contract. Now this makes more sense and unfortuantely I think Murray is gone.

No secret I wanted him back, but no one player is more important than the system or team and there is a good chance he is not worth his contract by year 3 or so. Still hoping he stays, but OK with him going too if that's how it plays out. Not a big eough fan of Mathews to give him that contract or of Spiller to give him what he is seeking. Maybe wait both out and see if their demands drop. Still would love to talk to Buffalo about Fred Jackson...

This was also confirmed by Adam Schefter just now, and that Murray is going there with the "expectation" to sign with them. Philly also has a good OL. Playing against Dallas twice a year might also be a motivating factor here for him to sign.

No chance he runs as well behind the Oline in Philly. McCoy was a better option in that scheme in my opinion and they let him go. Truth is I still don't think chip knows wtf he's doing. Without Dez or any other TE or receiving weapons, defenses can key on Murray and the run. If he stays on the field, he will be an average RB. He and Sam may both be on the injured list by October.

I can't believe Jerry is going to lose a player his team needs over $1-2 million per season when he has the cap space

I think if Murray is gone, Spiller and possibly Matthews come into play. Matthews is obviously a guy that will play in the Cowboys price range($4 million per) and he is sort of like Murray, can't stay healthy, but when he does, he's a horse. To be honest, I thought signing Matthews was a great move for Philly when I heard it

If jerrah really wanted murray this plane ride would not be happening. Possibly murray is disgruntled. The barber contract may be on jerrah mind. The fact remains murray has suffered broken bones quite a few times. Murray does have connection and it appears he is going to be and eagle. Its still a business and can't blame murray for going after it. To me I don't think one great year warrants 8 million per year.
I agree with this. It's not that I don't like Murray cause I do, but I don't trust him to stay healthy the duration of a long term 8M$ contract. If Murray goes at that price I will wish him farewell. Now if the price is more in the 6M price range and he leaves now that's a different story. I understand ultimately it's about the guaranteed money. Dallas has to get or retain the most talented players possible but in the most cap responsible way possible. I don't believe we can afford to pay Murray or any rb top flight money at this time. IMO Spiller would be an excellent and way cheaper alternative and We have to take a long and hard look at Gurly and Gordon in the draft.

Health as with all players is the main thing injury prone or not. Its a gamble on guys in the NFL even if they haven't been hurt often. One hit or play can end a season. Guess we will have to pray every play that they stay on the field. Hope whoever ends up as our RB, they play 15-16 games but thats unlikely anyway. Murray was an exception last year by being productive almost every game

No thanks on Mathews he's a nice player but he can't stay on the field. Spiller also has been injured, but not to the extent of Mathews or even Murray. I'd like to take a chance on Spiller and get a rb that complements him in the draft.

You are right about his health, but for less than $4 million a year I think he is worth the risk. This kid averaged 2.4 yards after contact last season, that would play well behind this OL. If he stays healthy, he is a player that could give the Cowboys similar production to Murray

I guess at 4M that won't be a bad deal if we can still bring in someone hopefully, Spiller behind him. Randle just isn't mentally ready to be the guy if Mathews were to go down.

Couple with that Murray is pretty "butthurt" right now deleting all Cowboys' photos and reference from his twitter page, and personally calling Chip on the phone, things just don't look too good now for him coming back. If Jerry really wanted Murray, I seriously doubt that a couple Mil a season would have stopped him from re-signing him, or just waiting for an offer from Philly to match.

This is a classic game of chicken. Murray and his agent keep putting things out to the media. I'm taking one more step. Now I'm taking another. All the while looking back at Jerry waiting for him to show his hand. I don't think Murray signs today. I think he will get the Eagles best offer, and that is what Jerry is waiting for. Once the contract parameters and money is drawn up, you can bet that info will be sent directly to the media (and Jerry). That's when Jerry will make his move. That's probably been his stance all along - that he'll match whatever Murray can get on the open market. His true going rate. The only unfortunate thing for us is that Mathews hasn't signed his contract yet. So theoretically, Murray could get more money in Philly. But since Chip swears he's not going to hand out bad contracts, I doubt it'll be much more than 6 mil per.

No question about Randle not being ready. I'd have no problem cutting him today. That's another reason I'd hate to lose Murray, quality guy

I think this is true and the Cowbys have basically come out and said just that, BUT...the Eagles have to play along for the plan to work. Kelly knows the situation. They have Mathews on standby waiting for a decision and he's not waiting for long. My gut tells me Murray goes up there and gets an offer from Philly and Kelly tells him you leave the building and the offer is withdrawn. Then Murray makes his decision based on what is in front of him and how much higher (if at all) it is than the Dallas offer. I think if Murray leaves Philly today without signing he WILL be a Cowboy.

Why are we so sure that is how it went down? Does that seem reasonable to you that he did that?

Sal Pal said they same thing and frankly, I don't understand that view. I think these guys understand the short window to make huge bucks in this game and timing is everything.

The biggest reason why we could lose Murray is the agent saving face. It happens much more than you would think.

I take it you wouldn't do this? I know if I wascin demand I'd get two companies in a bidding war.

You're overstating the agents authority in this matter. Agents are advocates and advisers, NOT decision makers. Any decision making power the agent has is granted at the discretion of the person being represented, not the other way around. Demarco Murray will go where he wants, not where his agent wants. His agent will advise him of the pros and cons of each situation and work to secure him the best deal. That is all.
