What was the rap on Jerry for years now? That he got too involved with his players and he would over pay.
Regardless if it's Steven whispering in his ear or not, we have become frugal for the benefit of the team.

No offense, but it was only a matter of time for some blow hard to ask "what message does it send"
when a couple of years ago he was probably raking Jerry over the coals for what he was spending on some contracts.

No offense taken. Since I have no clue on whats being offered its all speculation. But in my head, you make it work, especially if its guaranteed money thats the holdup. Heck, JJ gave Lee a 10 million signing bonus and he has maybe missed more games than anybody.

I have maintained for about a week now here, that Jerry and this team where just posturing for something else besides Murray (whether it be a cheaper FA RB, they draft a RB, or go after AP), but was told to go and get rocks by the Murray fans here. If Jerry wanted to re-sign Murray all-along, he would have done so a long, long, time ago imo, and not haggle over a few more million pesos....some people are just gullible I guess, and listen only to the public posturing done by team's front offices through the media, out of blind loyalty to a player.

Yeah, that's an accurate reflection on what went on. Just to be clear, no one told you to "go get rocks" because of the idea that Murray MAY leave (you alluded to him staying many times also),,,because no one here ever said he definitely won't leave (technically he still hasn't)...you were told to "go get rocks" because you're pompous and acting like an asshole.

Rumor as to what Philly is offering
DeMarco Murray's deal with Eagles is expected to be 5 years, $42 million, including $21 million guaranteed, per @mortreport and I.

If that is true he is gone and would be dumb not to take it. You get one chance to get rich as a RB and you can't let it go...

Personally, I think that is fair market value, no more. I like Murray every bit as much as McCoy, and that's basically the same deal

That seems a bit high, considering the contract Shady just got with the Bills: 5 years for $40M with $18.25M guaranteed. If that's the actual price and not just some nitwit speculation, then I doubt Jerry matches that or even comes within 10% of those figures, unless another year is tacked on to water down the contract.

And we all better hope we find someone that can pass protect if he leaves or romo could be in trouble. That was my biggest fear when Murray broke his hand. It isn't Dunbar or Randle or Spiller, isn't likely to be a rookie and it sure as hell isn't AP. I don't recall if Mathews can pass protect or not. Pierre Thomas?

Is any one concerned with the total amount of touches that Murray had last year and how history points to the fact most rb's don't produce at a high level following this type of season? Not because of his production, because of his carries and total touches. Many rb's have multiple productive years but I think I heard on the radio today when rb's have 350+ carries in a single season the following season usually is pretty mediocre. Murray had 392 carries followed by 57 receptions.

Didn't have to come to this. If the Cowboys offer was really $5 million, they just didn't want the guy. I bet he'd have signed for less than 8

RB blocking is very important I agree so I don't want to make it sound like that has no importants, but don't we have one of the 3 or 4 best OL's and 2 great blocking TE's. Will this team take a huge step backwards with just avg. rb pass blocking. I don't recall the passing game suffering on plays that Murray sat

I wouldn't be so worried guys. Murray is not worth the long term money. He's never had an injury free season.

I'm sure once AP starts knocking on Jerry's door, you guys will be fine.

From a production standpoint, it really does not put us in that kind of a hole.

From the standpoint of seeing a favorite player leave ...it's nothing a couple of hours at a strip club can't fix.

Good guy good player, next man/group up next. Our run game will be fine even if production is spread out.

Guess maybe he would have signed if Jerry had offered him 7M to begin with but I think he was set on 8M per. Maybe it wasn't the AAV, maybe JJ just didn't want to pay him a $20+ million dollar signing bonus? Still a head scratcher but maybe we get a younger, less injury prone, very productive back in the draft? One can only hope McClay and Co. find us the replacements we need
