Looks like Murray outpriced himself a little. Now lets see once he drops his price if other teams will still be above us, or if we are in the neghborhood. If he comes down from $10M per (if that's where he is) to $9M per he is still not in our range. If he comes to $8M per I think we are in the thick of the conversation and if he comes down to $7M per I think it's a done deal he comes back...the key is that no one is left standing other than us once he drops his price which was my hope all along. these teams aren't going to wait around on him as there are plenty of other players (non-RBs) that can help their teams...

Even with the losses of Parnell, Harris, Durant, etc, if the Cowboys can somehow resign Murray, after retaining Dez, Free and Beasley, the offseason would already be a huge success. Then if the Cowboys sign a couple of defensive contributors in FA and have another solid draft, wow, talk about different expectations for the team from the start of last season to next season

Murray and a really good draft would be huge

Jerry may have played his hand perfectly. With no state income tax, if the Cowboys are offering $7 per season, an $8 million per year deal from most teams isn't really that much more money, which is why Jax has been in the mix

With a good draft, this team would look awfully good, and with McClay running the show, there's a pretty good chance that happens. When Jimmy and Bill were here, Jerry was the best owner in the game. JG and McClay might be the two headed monster that returns him to that status

The more it looks like Murray's ass is going to be hanging in the breeze, the more I think the Cowboys should do a good will bump to their offer.

If they get Murray over a barrel, I don't see it as a good move to play hard ball with him just because they can.

Jax sites now reporting Murray deal with Jags ''not likely''. Got to be good news for Dallas

I know money is a huge factor, but which o-line would you like to run behind? Murray will get the money in Jax and be totally abused. He'd end up like Marion Barber pretty quick.

Doesn't send a positive message for contract negotiations going forward, to try and lowball guys or not at least offer fair market value. Players and agents will start to become leary of dealings with JJ and the Cowboys. Just pay him 8M per and lets get on with this FA

Not to mention the Cowboys have more National TV games on a season than the Jags have in a decade, and every TV/radio show knows the Cowboys are gold and the Jags are crickets

That's what I meant, it's why Jax offer was apples to apples. I think the problem for Jax is, their offer would have to be substantially higher than the Cowboys despite Florida's lack of state tax as well. :suds:

Rumor going around that murray wants 8 million per year. Raiders and cowboys are the main contenders. Cowboys need to get the deal done. Murray ain't barber

I'm actually starting to think Murray stays. Looks like he's overpriced himself this is probably good for us. If the Jags land him I hope Gordon is on the Cowboys Radar.

I don't want any part of Gordon in the draft for the Cowboys (assuming he goes early of course).

You know, if that's the case, then I don't understand why Dallas wouldn't just offer him the McCoy 5/$40 and quit playing with fire. I don't get the risk/reward on possibly losing a guy like Murray over a million a year. You really lose a lot more than you would have saved if he walks. You save $1-2 million a year, but you may have to spend your 1st round pick on an RB instead of defensive help

The teams that should have shown him the money, went with older, cheaper options. Shady's contract set the ceiling and potential suitors are drying up. I do believe Murray will be a Cowboy for the next few years. This is a good day.

PA is only 3%, FL is 0% as well.

If the money is similar everywhere, it's a matter of where he wants to play.
