I haven't caught up on the FA news this morning yet. Is this your guess or something you read?

Read it on Jags site Big Cat Country. If it's true, they would have to seriously overpay Murray to get him to move from the Cowboys to the Jags

Ryan Matthews visiting with Philly. Much better signing than Murray for them if they feel Sproles has a few years left. I'm not a big Matthews fan, but he won't be too expensive and they could rotate their 3 backs. Why spend a ton of money on Murray if you are Philly?

Also just read Dallas was kicking the tires on Antonio Cromartie. Never liked him when he was being paid like a top corner, but to get him for a fair price; I'd be all for that. He signed last year for like one year and $3.5M.

I was saying from the beginning we need to get through the first 48 hours to have a great shot at Murray. So far, so good. I'm sure Jax offered him more than us. If he was just chasing money he'd already be gone or at least in the process of giving us our last chance to match it. I think his goal still remains get more out of the Cowboys and stay which is why I stick with my prediction that he is a Cowboy next year. If it comes down to a million per year Jerry will fold unless the team really doesn't want him back, but just wants the perception out there that they did all they could to resign him...

Sorting through reality and rhetoric can be a problematic exercise during negotiations. But the list of suitors that have expressed varying degrees of interest in Murray since free agency began Tuesday afternoon appears to be thinning.
Oakland, Jacksonville, Tampa Bay and Philadelphia have all at least kicked the tires on the league’s leading rusher. But since then the Raiders have signed running back Roy Helu and the Eagles have scheduled a visit with Ryan Matthews on the expectation he’ll sign.
Matthews is regarded as the second best back on the free agent market behind Murray.
Where do these developments leave Murray? His camp still appears to be working hard to generate the sort of offer that will give them leverage in their negotiations with the Cowboys.
While the club has stated repeatedly that it wants Murray to return, it has no intention of negotiating against itself. Stephen Jones, the Cowboys chief operating officer, was willing to gamble that once Murray hit the free agent market the running back would be unable to get the contract he desired.
It’s too early to say if Jones and the Cowboys have won that gamble. But big money usually doesn’t last long in free agency. The more time that passes, the less likely it is that Murray will get the contract he seeks

DeMarco Murray met with Jason Garrett last night

Maybe DeMarco Murray is going to have to change his Facebook status to “it’s complicated.”
The Cowboys running back (though you wouldn’t know it from his Twitter profile) is having more and more contact with his old team, as he seeks more and more dollars for being the league’s leading rusher.
According to Mike Fisher of 105.3 The Fan, Murray met privately with Cowboys coach Jason Garrett at least night’s Mavericks-Cavaliers game, and continued the meeting in another spot.
Whether that’s enough to thaw the chill between Murray hitting the market without what he deems a fair offer remains to be seen.
But it seems some feelings have been bruised along the way, and the lines of communication are going to need to be repaired if anything’s going to happen for him in Dallas.

Is there room in the cap for child support?

Sounds promising. Interesting that he keeps meeting with the HC though. Wonder if his agent is in Jax meeting with them or in Dallas with the Jones crew???

Like I said, I had my concerns when he was being paid like a top corner. If he keeps moving around, maybe he makes it harder for his 10 baby mommas to find him?

If have not seen a bit of proof that somehow Murray is pissed or felt slighted. That started with a bullshit assumption based on his twitter account.

I don't think he is pissed off either. I think it was a calculated psychological tactic that probably came from his agent. Plus if he leaves it would be weird to see him pictured in a Cowboy uniform saying "I'm coming to Jacksonville!!!"

The Cowboys aren’t treating this off-season like they are one player away from winning a Super Bowl. Stephen Jones, the team’s chief operating officer, believes approaching free agency in that way can get a club into trouble.

Well, don’t tell that to veteran free agent cornerback Antonio Cromartie.
During a Tuesday appearance on ESPN’s First Take, the four-time Pro Bowler said he is Dallas’ missing piece.
“They’re only missing one key piece and that’s the piece in the secondary,”
Cromartie said, “and I feel like I can be that piece to help and go in and win a championship and get the Dallas Cowboys back where they’re supposed to be.”
Cromartie, a former first-round pick, says it’s always been childhood dream to play for the Cowboys.
He also compared the possibility of the Cowboys signing him to the time Jerry Jones broke the bank and inked Hall of Fame corner Deion Sanders to a seven-year, $35 million deal in 1995.
“They didn’t start winning championships until when? Deion came about,”
Cromartie said, forgetting that the Cowboys won Super Bowls in 1992 and 1993 before Sanders arrived. “They were missing that one piece. Why can’t I be that missing piece?”
Cromartie signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract last year to play in Arizona. He recorded three interceptions and 10 pass deflections in 16 starts. He spent the previous four seasons with the New York Jets after playing his first four seasons in the league with the Chargers.

Cromartie, who has 38 career interceptions, hasn’t missed a game over the last four seasons.
It’s unlikely that the Cowboys would get into a bidding war for the 30-year-old defensive back, but it could become an interesting possibility if he’s willing to sign at a bargain price.
“I am not as huge into the theory that I am one player away,” Stephen Jones said last month. “It worked pretty good for us last year, being conservative with the cap. You’ve just got to continue to be sound and build, and good things will happen.”

Of course if you bring in a guy like Cromartie you are going to have to hear a bunch of crap like this...I'm already getting tired of him:doh:

I think the interest is falling from other teams because Murray is asking for huge money. I believe it will come down to a huge money deal in Jax, or a solid deal/better team in Dallas. Jax gave Parnell $6 million per, House $6 million per and J Thomas $9 million per, so I'm guessing they didn't blink at what Murray asked for

Jags, Murray currently “not likely,” but could change

As running back DeMarco Murray tries to parlay an NFL-leading 1,845 rushing yards into a new contract, various teams are interested. But not yet at the compensation level Murray desires.
The Raiders are involved, and the Cowboys would like to keep Murray around, on their terms. The Jaguars also are interested.
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, it’s currently “not likely” that Murray will join the Jaguars. But that could change.
It could change, apparently, if Murray agrees to take less than he wants, or if the Jaguars agree to pay more than they’re willing to pay.
It’s not known what Murray wants or what he could get. Given the rest of the running back market, $8 million annually with $20 million guaranteed could be a reasonable target.

Even with the losses of Parnell, Harris, Durant, etc, if the Cowboys can somehow resign Murray, after retaining Dez, Free and Beasley, the offseason would already be a huge success. Then if the Cowboys sign a couple of defensive contributors in FA and have another solid draft, wow, talk about different expectations for the team from the start of last season to next season
