He still freaking worries me .... especially when we are playing them. Our season may very well come down to how we fair on the head-to-head matchups with them. I still don't relish the idea of facing Kershaw, Billingsley, Blanton and whoever else they throw at us. Couple that with HanRam, Kemp and Either ... and it just makes for an uncomfortable series. Gives our SP very little wiggle room for error.

Kemp/Ramirez/Ethier

vs

Posey/Cabrera/Panda/Pence

Edge: Giants

Kershaw/Billingsley/Blanton

vs

Cain/Bumgarner/Vogelsong

Edge: Giants

I am OK with the head-to-head...

(Posted in another thread as well but...)

Pagan-CF
Theriot-2B
Cabrera-LF
Posey-C
Sandoval-3B
Pence-RF
Belt-1B
Crawford-SS

vs.

Victorino-LF
Ellis-2B
Kemp-CF
Ethier-RF
Ramirez-3B
Loney-1B
Cruz-SS
Ellis-C

Both lineups can change a lot, but these are likely the lineups that will be out there more often than not. And if Belt starts swinging it, he has a MUCH higher ceiling than Loney.

C - Posey vs Ellis -- Hands Down
1B - Belt vs Loney -- Although I would prefer to have Belt in the org than Loney, RIGHT NOW, Loney gets the nod
2B - Theriot vs Ellis -- Close
SS - Crawford vs Cruz -- Defense and flashes of power, but close
3B - Sandoval vs Ramirez -- Close, but HanRam has not performed in years
LF - Cabrera vs Victorino - Not even close. Leche may be the best LF in the game today.
CF - Pagan vs Kemp -- Next...
RF - Pence vs Ethier -- Push

Giants win 4-3-1.

Rotation

Cain vs Kershaw -- While this year, Cain is doing better, Kershaw is a filthy beast. PUSH
Bumgarner vs Capuano -- Bum could be an ACE on half the teams in the MLB
Vogelsong vs Billingsly -- Vogey could be an ACE on half the teams in the MLB
Zito vs Harang -- Zito is a good 4, but Harang is a good 3.
Lincecum vs Blanton -- Blanton is consistent crap. Timmeh is either Good or atrocious. PUSH

Giants win 2-1-2

Truth, and even with FYWW's recent struggles, they are the far superior pen. I guess we could break those down one by one, but it would only further beleaguer your point.

8 games at 3B, 4 at SS.

We all know you are ignorant about stats, so leave these talks to the adults...

:boink:

Last four at ss, also dodgers say they want him at ss going forward. So it's hanram vs. scutaro/fish. But I'm stuck in wisconsin for the week, so maybe things have changed in the last 24hours.

So we sub panda over Cruz and ram over fish.

Now the dogs are better. :(

Belt has to step up, and the bullpen has to get it together. I'm happy that the dodgers didn't get dempter or headley. And I wonder if there might be a 1B hitting the waiver wire soon - because you know both the dogs and the Giants will take a look.

I am losing faith in Belt, at least on the short term. I would be good with picking up SOMETHNG to put at 1st...

Nady plays 1st, right?

:behindsofa:

If YOU call what he does there as "plays", then yes, he "plays" 1st base...

Personally, I would say he stands in the general vicinity of 1st base.

Potato potato, I guess...

Belt is having a nice little run from the end of july, now if he can hit a few dingers bochy might have a tougher decision /wrt chez3-posey twice a week.

We know the Giants coveted Cuddyer last year. Decent RH bat - having a down year, though. At the very least everything the Giants hoped Brett Pill could be. Owed ~22M through 2014, I think I'd pass.

Scutaro over Theriot? No way. Theriot's line since he returned from the DL: .311/.360/.372 let's not mess that up.

LOL :burt:

A "huge if" is him hitting decently well? Granted, I'll give you my language was very vague, but if even if he keeps his .749OPS, than that's .070 higher than what they've gotten there this season. If he hits roughly .270 and can maintain his current .750 OPS with 10 homers (average per games played) and can provide some speed on the bases , that will smoke everything every Dodger 3rd baseman has done this season.....in less than half a season. Is it an "if", definitely, but I don't think that's a "huge if". As for the money relgated to SS, that all depends on how the Dodgers ownership spends money from now on. If they still do operate under an internal budget, than I do agree with you whole-heartedly. If they start getting up into Angels territory (or worse yet Red Sox or Yanks territory), than they probably won't have too much of a problem dealing with the contract.

I definitely wouldn't bet on the Doggies, I'm just thinking they got a lot tougher. As Wesley Snipes said, "always bet on (Orange and) Black" ("orange and" was implied). :heh:

FWIW, HanRam hit: .271 with 10 HR's for the Dodgers. with a .774 OPS along with 7 SB's. lol, Blind Squirrel (me), meet nut (HanRam prediction)! This just reinforces my belief that I should just fling shit at the wall and see what sticks! :heh:

Also what I've learned is that we (the royal "we") should never, ever, ever doubt Wesley Snipes.

Fuck The Dodgers.

But aren't Ramirez and Arias both black? What would be the point of betting on both of them?

I would say thats more than just getting lucky. That was spot on and they were tougher after acquiring them.

The one thing most of us, if not all, didn't take into account-the ability of the 2012 Giants to rise to the occasion again and again when history says they shouldn't.
