You don't want to be evaluating talent in the regular season. HS.Always nice to get a win, but it really comes down to seeing the young guys you need to step up doing well, right?

I'm just not sure your HC feels the same as you...
The preseason and camp, where else you going to evaluate players that either make the roster or get cut? Same goes for position battles, if you got two players going after the same starting position, you need some thing to judge them by. Obliviously that could change as the season moves on, still...I love camp and preseason, I try not to get to high or to low on players and expections on team success, but you got to start some where.
Preseason games are just too small of a sample size to determine much on individual levels. What I think you can take from it is team approach and effort.
Camp is much different imo. Its a large sample size with lots of specific, hands on training and coaching. If a guy looks great throughout camp, its a good chance it can translate to the regular season.
