I'm actually starting to get a little worried, between RNH being all-world at the WJHC and Dubnyk playing well at the Spengler Cup, the Oil just might be able to pull themselves out of the draft lottery.

the dubnyk worries me the most :/

On a positive note Yakupov hasn't done much in the Tournament so far. A number of his teammates have played better than he has. Of course it helps when the Russians seem to only pass the puck when they have no other alternative.

Now you know what it is like to be a Flyers fan circa 2006 :)

This may be a stupid question...but can they still be considering a 48 game season when this thing keeps getting pushed back on a daily basis?

Drop dead date for the 48 game season is January 11th. They want a deal by the end of the week and a week long camp pretty much.

Pix I heard that is the drop dead date too but I thought they meant for ANY season not just a 48 game schedule. Unless I heard wrong.

I read the deadline date for a deal is Jan 11th, regular season would begin Jan 19th and consist of 48 games.

Bettman has said in an interview they will not play less than 48 games either.

Don't worry, the two sides will find a way to fuck this up and there won't be a season.

Bettman's quote...

What is clear is that time has become a real factor.

"We've said we need to drop the puck by Jan. 19 if we're going to play a 48-game season," commissioner Gary Bettman said. "We don't think it makes sense to play a season any shorter than that."

I think the factor of time is a silver lining at this point. It will be the first situation since the lockout began that there is a real deadline that will have consequences if an agreement is not reached by the second week of January.

They can both still screw this up. Their shared ineptitude is ever present with the state of the current situation. I still believe though that both parties recognize the game can't sustain another lost season in such a short amount of time.

Amazing how long they made the NHLPA wait only for a 30 minute meeting.

Trying not to look into this thing so much but as a hockey fan it is impossible.

The league most likely gave the PA another 300+ contract and the PA said Thanks we will read this and get back to you

I'm confuzzled here...

1) Is @notbryzgoalie actually Comrade B?

2) Why would the NHL be 'negotiating' with the state of Pennsylvania - & how does he (whoever he is) have proof that they are?

3) What would make any such negotiation a 'very good sign'?

I don't quite understand your first question, but this twitter account is a Bryzgalov parody that tweets in broken english.

The NHL has been meeting with the PA tonight. PA is the abbreviation for Pennsylvania, where Ilya lives

I think a deal is almost done. Seeing the body language of both Fehr and Bettman it looks like they feel good about things

@flyersfan:

Thanks for the clarification. Yes, 'Comrade B' was a reference to Ilya. I assume that he has a Twitter account like alot of the other big name players, so I was wondering if this was actually him.

Obviously, the whole PA/NHLPA thing went right over my head. :confused2:

The thing that is bothering me right now is that seems like they are playing to the "deadline". Getting a deal done sooner than the 11th would be the best to try and save face with some of us.

I was watching an espn clip (which is bad anyway) and Bucci and Melrose were talking about the fans. They both agreed that a "Thank you fans" note painted on the ice would be a really really bad idea.

What are ideas that would be good ones for us? Bucci mentioned free center ice package which would be cool. Do you guys have any others?
