Garage League
They will have from not until next fall to get a deal done. If this even gets close to spilling into next season, that is when we as fans need to suck it up and deliver a big FU to the NHL and players. That would be the biggest middle finger to the fans ever if they can't get something worked out.
It already is the biggest F U to us as fans, right now. Each team has lost around 120 games of hockey in the past eight seasons if you include the 04-05 lockout and 2012.
If the NHL and PA go past the point of no return this season, I think they can pretty much say goodbye to any hope of normalcy ever returning to the game they play, and/or profit from.
It's that reason why I still expect them to salvage at least a 48 game season. The league already ventured into uncharted waters when they canceled the entire season last time. It had never happened before in the world of N. American professional sports.
For them to do it again eight years later would be a mistake they might not make it back from. At least not how the game exists today with a salary cap, FA and amount of teams and players in the game.
I truly don't believe either party is ready to risk that scenario.
