Daly stops short of a Mark Messier guarantee:

Mark Spector Sports ‏@SportsnetSpec

Daly: "You're looking at the middle of Jan. by the date this needs to
be resolved…. I'm committed to doing it."

Whistler/Blackcomb? Lake Louise?

To me a spectacular setting is a 5,000 seat all sheet metal barn that allows you to bring your own beer cans in - oh yeah, one that opens up the garage doors between periods to let the natural air in so you don't pass out from zamboni fumes.

wow

Daren Millard ‏@darenmillard
The seating will be on shore but the players will skate on the lake on a regulation size rink with boards. No chasing pucks for miles!

Damn it, I was hoping we could lose Sean Avery on some thin ice chasing a wayward puck.

Both Houston and OKC have AHL teams, thus they would likely have to find other cities to ply their trade. Obviously the big attraction for Seattle is to get a NBA team, but I still think a NHL team would do well once they get the new arena built.

Not necessarily. The Columbus Chill was a very successful minor league team before the NHL granted C-bus the Jackets.

Granted, right about now I'd love it if the Chill still existed, but no reason why a city can't make the jump to "Major league" city.

I would love a Houston Aeros NHL team. Especially in lieu of a Phoenix Coyotes NHL team.

I have quite the affinity for the Houston Aeros name, as it was the first professional hockey team that a relative of mine played for in the WHA.

/and no, it's not Lucien DeBlois :D

Ugh.... :L

I don't know which page it's on, but the article Dash posted on 12 Reasons this whole thing is ridiculous was really good. In short, the league drastically increased revenue in the last CBA despite a terrible economy. The players compromised to 50/50 having gotten 57/43 before. That's a huge change. Over an 8-year cycle, that 7% change could cost the players roughly 2 BILLION dollars. And the owners can't meet them partway for a few years here and there on contracts and CBA length. Gimme a fucking break.

I started off this thing 95% with the players. I'm now 132% with the players.
