Not really sure it means very much (like Daly was going to saying "No, there's not going to be a season").

Daly says he thinks there will be an NHL season

"I'd like to think that at the end of the day that reason will prevail," he added, "and if reason prevails, we'll play a hockey season this year."

Less than two weeks left in this year, asshole.

The problem is there's not enough room in the chimney to support these ego's.

I saw some nice Whitecaps swag in the store at Metrotown yesterday - Waiting for a Boxing week sale to pick some stuff up.

This is, IMO, semi-related. A friend sent me this about the cities with the best recoveries going on, and the strongest economies.

Columbus has 7th-best economy in U.S., No. 1 in Ohio, according to new ranking VIDEO - Columbus - Business First

What struck me is the list of cities.
The strongest economy in the country, according to the index, is Oklahoma City. Columbus also trails Austin, Texas, Omaha, Neb., Pittsburgh, Denver and Houston.

Of those 7, the NHL is only in 3 and they fought to stay in one of those. Seems to me that they'd want to hang in places where the economy is working because people have dollars to spend on tickets. I would be just fine with moving Phoenix to Houston and the Panthers to OKC.

Or Austin. A young city with no other pro sports except the US Grand Prix...

Both Houston and OKC have AHL teams, thus they would likely have to find other cities to ply their trade. Obviously the big attraction for Seattle is to get a NBA team, but I still think a NHL team would do well once they get the new arena built.

Looks like Squidy might be going on a Swiss vacation:

Report: Cammalleri close to deal to play in Switzerland

/Could be added to Canada's entry at the Spengler Cup as well.

I eagerly await his scathing review of Swiss truckstop cuisine

Szymon Szemberg ‏@Sz1909_Szemberg
According to Swiss media Mike Cammalleri has already returned to Canada after having practiced with Geneva-Servette for a couple of days.

Yes Virginia, there really won't be hockey this season.
Abject insane stupidity. Who is Bettman blowing to keep his job?
Worst commissioner/president in the history of sports.

NHL set to announce cancellation of games through Jan. 14

looks like games until Jan 14th are gone...

Just pull the plug on the season and try to be ready for next year:L

Well, Bettman is on record saying 48 games is a minimum (exactly what they played in the '94-'95 season). That season started on January 20th, thus we likely need a tentative CBA agreement (they can officially ratify it later) by January 10th.

Of course, in order to get an agreement, you probably have to get together and have meetings (call me crazy).

Just read that the NHL has lost 1 game in ever 9 due to lockouts since 1992. 2332 games lost.
