Can you break walnuts with that thick skull of yours?

No, but I don't waste much thought on changing the rules. Every team knew at the beginning of the season that if they were tied for 1st place in the division that they'd play a 163rd game. The managers and front office manage the teams to maximize the number of victories. It does not matter where those victories come from.

They played. 19 games. Not some rule where they are judged by common opponents or intra divisional this or that. They played each other . 19 times!

You created a poll and thread just so you can argue with those who don't agree with your belief (that's not going be swayed because you'll take the pro-Cubs position)?

No, what I'm suggesting is the 162 games count, but if there's a tie, the games that you've played against the team you've tied with should be the deciding factor.

Whether you're able and/or willing to admit it, you're suggesting to weight the H2H games heavier than the other games in the 162-game season.

The 162 games matter the most, then what should matter second is H2H/division games to determine a division title, just like literally every other sport does it. That's my idea. I don't see how I'm suggesting the weight of H2H games be heavier when you have to have a good enough record in those 162 games in order to be tied for the division title.

Excellent point, which is really the nail in rmilla's and Terry Rode's arguments.

The Cubs were 9-10 vs the Cardinals.

The Dodgers were 8-11 vs the D-Backs.

"how can they be division champs if they lost the season series?"

lolz

This argument doesn't make sense seeing as the Cardinals and D-Backs weren't good enough in the regular season to tie for the division title.

That's obvious, and happens to be the reason for our impasse here.

I just explained to you how I'm judging H2H secondary to the regular season. If you don't agree that's fine, but if you just can't understand it then that's another issue.

haha.

Yeah. OK.

I guess I'll just leave you with this: I'm glad MLB agrees with me instead of you.

What I can't understand...

From the guy who doesn't realize he's weighting H2H games.

Too fucking funny.

Still doesn't make your argument make any sense. Noone is saying to judge it based on H2H/division W-L record solely. You gotta be good in the 162 in order for that to even matter in the first place.

I'm weighting them secondary to the 162. Yes, I am. Because if you're not good enough in the 162 to be in the division title race, your H2H/Division W-L means jack shit.

Two teams play one hundred sixty-two games. They're tied. You give one team the division title based on the outcome of nineteen of those games. Regardless of anything else, if you can't see that you would be weighing those nineteen games more heavily than the other 143, you are seriously too stupid for me to continue this discussion with.

You're saying that you think all 162 games count, but if two teams are tied then these specific 19 games count for more than the others, but that you wouldn't be weighting those games. At best, that's a conflicting statement.

If you want to say, "yes, if two teams are tied after 162, I'm willing to weight their H2H games more heavily," I'd have no problem with your opinion. I wouldn't agree with it, but it wouldn't be retarded.

There is no pro cubs position. Dunce. What is said here today doesn’t affect anything.

It’s a debate between two ideas. The whole point ya to argue thx issue.
