I have not been all that big a fan of Disturbed but heard this on the The Lou Brutus Hard Drive Radio show and really liked it.

Anyone else like this at all?

Plug in the surround sound and crank it up a bit

Never heard that one before. Dude has one of my favourite voices of all time. Interesting singer & a really good cover.

How has he not destroyed his vocal cords by now, though?

Nailed it on Conan.

Disturbed has probably aged worse than any music I was listening to when I was younger. Songs that I would rank 9/10 or 10/10 are songs that I wouldn't waste my time with now. I just dont like the band, the singer...any of it anymore.

Its a decent cover but the original is so much better.

I don’t get the love for it. At least 3 years ago when it was relevant. If you listen to any Simon and Garfunkel version of this (I recommend the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame anniversary video) and prefer this, there’s probably something wrong with you.

Simon and Garfunkel don't get the love they deserve. I like the folky stuff from the 60's(them, Dylan, Gordon Lightfoot, etc), so maybe that's why I think that way.

I really like this version. I'm not really into the syrupy duet of the original

True, but still better than Five Finger Death Punch covering Bad Company.

Of the recent string of really average covers of great songs, the recent cover of the Cranberries 'Zombie' is the best of the bunch, imo, because its message that we're always at war resonates in a slightly different way.

I don’t really get the covers stuff. I like it when bands throw in a cool or random cover live, or do it for something or for some reason, but just covering a song and releasing it as a single is weird. It only works if it’s something like Stevie Ray Vaughn playing Hendrix better than Hendrix (even though I don’t think he put those out as singles, just captured live takes).

I got caught in a Youtube rabbit hole a few weeks ago and found a top 10 worst covers of all time video.
So was it just Sheryl Crow's 'Sweet Child of Mine' played 10 times?

Yeah, this is what I’m referring too, seems to be a recent trend. I blame Weezer.

It's been going on forever. Might have started when Elvis butchered "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry"

It was on there, the two I mentioned were on there, and Celine Dion and some other woman singing "You Shook Me All Night Long" was on there. Can't remember the rest.

Still gonna blame Weezer. If only all the other ‘meh’ bands would just let them be the sacrificial Jesus of mediocre covers. They seem to be willing to take on the role, why fight it?

Rock is basically dying right now on a mainstream level. Covers are the no-risk cash-in that keeps labels happy when no one cares about new rock.

I like Social Distortion's take on a Hank Williams fairly obscure classic.
