I read a few articles on this and what I found really made me think that this has been going on for a while in the NFL and that Brady isn't the only one who does it. Brad Johnson, the QB for the bucs said he had paid someone money to do it for the Super Bowl he was in. Matt Leinart said that he only knew of one QB who didn't do it, and that was Kurt Warner and it was because Kurt wore gloves. To be completely honest, I wouldn't be surprised if Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers did the same thing.
I don't disagree that all quarterbacks try to doctor up the ball but the issue here is that those balls are still found to be within regulation during the game. The Patriots after having the balls checked illegally changed the balls (at least that is what it looks like). All of these quarterbacks are within their legal rights to doctor up the ball as much as they want as long as they still meet the regulations established by the NFL. So Leinart saying every quarterback does this is true in the sense they work on the balls to get them ready. From the sounds of it though they don't change the ball in game. I mean when the Ravens actually contacted the Colts to inform them that the Patriots were illegally messing with the balls and to watch for it that should show this isn't just a common thing that every team is doing.
