They said the Bruins are already making calls to set up a couple of trades because of Salary Cap issues.

When Savard comes back they're going to have to make a couple of deals. Ryder was mentioned of course but it was said the Bruins will have to make more than one trade. Who do you think might be headed out of Beantown by Christmas & where?

Boston also has to make room for Marco Sturm, too. He's supposed to be back in Decemberish. That's $7.5 mil for those two, and I think Boston has ~2-3 mil in space. There's been nothing but pure speculation on what the team can and will do, but there might be a fire sale in Beantown pretty soon.

Blake Wheeler, Tim Thomas and Michael Ryder are the names most bandied around, but it could be anybody. They also have to find a team with cap space that still wants to take on payroll. What a mess.

Sutter, please stay away from Marc Savard and Michael Ryder. Just say no. Now, if it turns out to be a 3-team trade where a Jason Spezza or Mike Fisher becomes available, you may want to pick up the phone.

Well the Islanders have the cap space however it's been said that Chuck won't approve trades that don't help the team now AND in the future. I wouldn't mind acquiring Wheeler though.

If I'm Chiarelli, Sutter, Burke and Sather are the first GM's I call with bad trade ideas.

Actually if Ottawa is willing to shake things up it would make a lot of sense to make a deal with Murray.

Savard if healthy would make a lot of sense for the Kings. They have the cap space too.

I'm not much of a cap geek so I don't know the numbers, but wouldn't Tim Thomas be appealing to someone like the Flyers?

Edit: NVM, Thomas is 5 million (ouch) and Flyers are up against it.

Unfortunately the Leafs aren't allowed to trade their 1st round pick in 2012. Just like the Flyers can't trade theirs in 2011. Some kind of rule about competitive balance made my the league. No team is allowed to trade more than two 1st round picks in a row.
