Needed to get this series started off with a win.

When I saw the teams in this 9-game stretch that started last week, I said 6-3 was acceptable, but really hoped for 7 or more wins. Gonna need a sweep to get the 7.

F-Rod got career save #423 tonight, passing Billy Wagner and putting him in sole possession of 5th place on the all-time list. His next save will tie him with John Franco for 4th place.

They won :thumb:.. I thought they were going to lose again. I hope September treats the Tigers good better than August did...

I was thinking the same. Three weaker teams...at least 6-3. With their up-down offense.....6-3 would be fine.

I can't believe Maybin is hurt again. The guy is an injury magnet. Now they fill in with a couple of guys with BA's that are about 100 points lower than his. :(

There's no again. He's been hurt all along.

Since he returned from the DL he's dodged out on every question about his thumb. That I've seen and heard. Pretty sure he's hust putting off season ending surgery. Till the season ends.

Which will be after Game 162 if he's out again.

Boyd caught me off Gaurd.

Guess he wasn't pitching again for five days anyway.

Hopefully Jones shows some promise up here. Weird that they burned a year by not waiting a couple of days.

Sounded like they wanted him up in August as insurance for Nick and Maybin, can play either position and hopefully both better than Collins and McGehee respectively. If they waited until Sept, the way I took it, he wouldn't have been eligible for the post season roster, if they make it.

Just caught me off Gaurd burning the year of control, for one day on the roster.

But if he can help In the playoffs, worth it. It is nice that Mr. I covets winning over pinching pennies.

DETROIT -- An MRI on Cameron Maybin's beat-up left thumb revealed no serious issues, meaning he could be back in the Detroit Tigers lineup soon.

Manager Brad Ausmus said Maybin would likely sit out on Wednesday, but could return to action on Friday when the Tigers open a series at Kansas City.

"It's just a matter of letting the contusion heal," Ausmus said.
