Not sure WHO or WHERE...but it would be nice to land a good utility player that can hit. Does not have to be a defensive whiz...but someone who could fill two or three spots and provide offense.

Good luck with that. IF/OF utility men that can hit even reasonably well are rare. There's a reason Andrew Romine still has a job, and why Don Kelly had a job as long as he did.

If Erick Aybar could play OF, I'd say he's a possibility.

Let's be honest.... the Twins pitching is brutal. Their staff was around 4.90 as a team coming into this series, and I think the Tigers put them over 5.00.

That said, the Tigers couldn't hit these same crappy Twins pitchers at all when Minny last came to Detroit. Good to see the hitters doing what they should do to lousy pitchers.

True...not many. Tigers should keep an eye open and see if Arizona wants to trade Brandon Drury. Can play 3b/2b/corner outfield (none real well), but he can hit with a little power. Houston has that Marwin Gonzalez that can play anywhere and is a decent hitter. Those types are out there, but teams aren't willing to give them away. I'd love to have that Holt guy the Red Sox have. He is a starter, at several positions, on many other teams.

Nice game by Norris today. Put up five innings of donuts before tiring a bit and giving up 2 runs in 6.1 IP. The Tigers will have some tough decisions with returning injured pitchers. Actually, ONE tough decision, I hope -- whom to drop out of the rotation if Zimmermann returns healthy. As far as Pelfrey returning, I hope they don't immediately plug him back into rotation, unless it's a spot start to extend Fulmer or something like that.

Ugh. The Kyle Ryan/Justin Wilson show is threatening to blow this one. Looks like we'll see F-Rod in the 9th, unless the Tiger offense gets some add-ons.

Strange game.... the Tigers three hottest hitters (JD, Upton, Cabrera) go 0-for-12, and we still score 8 runs. Big days for McCann and Victor. 5 walks from the Twins starter didn't hurt, either.

Red Sox lost this afternoon, too.

Id rather not see the infield/outfield thing anymore.

Especially if it's a guy like Romine. Or any player with no power and an average arm.

Tough to do though, with a guy like Victor on the roster.

JV needs to pitch every fifth day, regardless of it being his turn.

But a lot of tough calls from there. I know this doesn't get much support, but Id have no issue with Fulmer coming out of the bullpen for awhile.

Fulmer coming out of the bullpen is interesting if it saves his innings and he can be able to toss if by chance we make the playoffs.

It would be a nice boost to the bullpen too.

My thinking is when Zimmerman comes back, he starts and Fulmer is first in line to relieve. Same thing goes if they opted to plug Pelfrey back into the rotation.

Fulmer is clearly gonna go way over the amount of innings theyd wanted him to. Out of necessity. But if Sanchez, Boyd and Norris can be somewhat reliable, the overage doesn't have to be quite as bad with him in the bullpen going two or three innings instead of six or seven.

Agreed and that might be the plan, but if the Tigers can't keep pace then they will shut him down and it's on to next year.

I think they'd have to shut him down for the year if the WildCard seems out of reach.

Draw a line through Sanchez and insert Zimmerman...and that should be next years rotation.

With Anibal Sanchez and Mike Pelfrey's combined $24.8mil salary in 2017 - Detroit will have an expensive bullpen, even if it isn't great.
