I never liked Ausmus from the day he was hired....no experience. ...thought they were underachieving last year too...I am not putting the total blame on the manager but you gotta start somewhere.....the team is built to win now not so Ausmus can get experience. ...

Well, that was a thoroughly embarrassing series. If not for some good pitching in Oakland leading to 1-0 and 3-2 wins, it could have been an 0-7 road trip. The hitting was just atrocious out West. One game where they scored more than 3 runs, and shut out twice. Pathetic.

BUT -- When the Anaheim series started, the Angels were 23-24, while the Tigers were 28-20. Their records are now almost identical after one series. That tells you how quickly things can turn around when the Tigers start playing their own division again. Gotta hang close in the meantime, but I'd rather have them get hot in August-Sept when they play the ALC again than now.

It's true. 21 baserunners in 14.1 innings (1.47 WHIP) tells me the ERA is misleading. One thing he has done well is limit walks. 1.9 BB/9 so far versus a 3.4 rate last season.
