I have no idea why Ausmus does what he does with the pen.

I don't think he does either.

Drove me nuts last year when he left JV in an inning too long every game.

But hey, Ausmus actually didn't cost The team the game tonight. and Collins only scored because he gambled on taking second.

If could like this 3 times i would... i am so sick of watching ausmus manage the pen... its disgusting.

Looks like Rondon is going to pitch himself out of a closer role for next year... or even a role on the big league team. 3 blown saves in 8 tries, 5.90 ERA, 1.66 WHIP, walk rate 5.9/9.

He can't stop walking people.. you can't walk guys like he does and be a closer... that is the one thing I am concerned about with Verhagen... but Verhagen's walk rate in the minors was not bad.... so I think he will improve... Rondon... I don't know about... The guy just doesn't give me any confidence he is going to come back next year better. Verhagen also is a ground ball machine and has tended to get double play balls after walking guys.... which has helped him... Rondon doesn't have the stuff Verhagen does... all he has is a straight 99 mph fastball and a slider that he can't control.

I am fine with Rondon making the bullpen... in a al al type role... But as closer... I don't understand why Wilson isn't getting some run there... I don't really understand anything Ausmus does with the bullpen though...

I would love to see Verhagen in a 1 inning closer role just to see what happens... most of his runs he has allowed have come in second or third innings he pitches in... I am curious if he knows he only has to go 1 inning if his approach would change.

I agree that it was probably instructed from the top to see what Rondon does as closer... And its a good thing to have it come to light now... not next year. What worries me is that Avila is almost certain to go out and sign a bullpen arm.. and there really aren't any arms out there worth a big investment... so that spells trouble right there.

I hope sanity reigns and the Tigers get 2 above average starters, then worry about a bullpen arm... Tigers are going to be in the trade market this offseason too.. I heard they are kicking the tires on Marcel Ozuna from the Marlins.

This game is a great showcase of why Ausmus sucks.. Sending runners home when they have no shot... sending JD to get thrown out easy... Why is it the base running is this bad? That is directly related to a manager.. as he is the one that controls base runners.... I hate you so much Ausmus... I hope you get fired tomorrow and I never have to see that stupid look you always have on your stupid face.
