I sure hope the Tigers don't waste their time and money keeping Feliz around... he is fecal.

The problem with closer is that there really isn't anything out there worth the money. The only way I would be ok with the Tigers making a big move for a closer is by trade.. I wouldn't say a word if they found a way to get Chapman...
I'd prefer a trade too.

Chapman would blow my mind. That'd be awesome!

I'd be happy with KRod tbh.

Krod is right at the cliff.. about ready to suck.... Chapman would be the only closer I could see them getting that would really make me happy.... but once again... I want them to get 2 above average starters before they do anything else.

I have said this 1000 times.. but the production the Tigers have been getting from these turds out of the bullpen that are getting millions a year... can easily be reproduced by the young cheap arms... you are seeing this now... guys like Valdez/Verhagen/Ryan could actually be pretty solid out of the pen next year... and they have more in the minors.. No reason to spend here.. unless they have filled all the other needs and decide to spend there after adding quality starters...

I am almost certain the Tigers will make a move for a backend bullpen guy.. but I would really be happy if they didn't. I am tired of overpaying for gassed out turds... or giving up prospects for guys that give you the same stats as the prospects traded would have...

Corey Knebel (traded for soria with Jake Thompson) - 3.48 ERA with a 1.16 whip.
Soria with the Tigers (last yr to this years trade deadline) - 3.28 ERA with a 1.05 whip

Was that trade really worth it? Jake Thompson is the #55 prospect in all of baseball right now... and climbing...

If Jake Thompson ends up being a front line starter... I am going to be so pissed off...

I am not ready to write off Ian Krol... The guy's minor league stats are very solid... It has to be more mental than anything with him.. hopefully he settles down... It really doesn't make sense how bad he has been with the stuff he has.

I'm in your corner with Kroll.

He LOOKS good, but hasn't been, yet.

I honestly believe the Tigers could have an average or better pen with guys they have in their system right now... Unless they can get some great deal... I don't want to see talent or money invested in the pen. I say buy low on Cueto, he might even take a 1 yr deal the way he is pitching this year... and get Leake or Zimmerman. I would even be good with them spending 150 mil on Greinke.. but I doubt the Dodgers let him walk.

Cueto could end up being a steal now... Latos could be a buy low option too.. he is only 27 and had some great years.

Dream situation would be the Tigers getting Greinke on a 5 yr 150 mil deal... and getting Cueto to take a 1 yr 15 mil deal...

Greinke/Verlander/Cueto/Sanchez/Norris.... that would make me erect.

I think Cueto is either slightly injured or having trouble adjusting to AL lineups... my guess is he is having trouble adjusting... Because his velocity is still up. Just goes to show you... An Ace in the NL isn't always an Ace in the AL...

Not sure why the Tigers don't take the minor league contract route like the Royals have been doing for a while now to add depth for the rotation and bullpen. They do it for position players... But for what ever reason they haven't with pitching. I would rather see the Mudhens with a rotation of 3 prospects and 2 mlb vets on minor league deals rather than 3 prospects and 2 guys that will never see the light of day in a mlb roster. Same with their bullpen. Why was Zeid on the 40 man so long? Toledo's roster was so god damn awful this year... They would rather have guys there that are AAAA caliber shit bombs over 30 and holding on to the glory of being a pro ball player than use the roster spots for guys like Wolf or Blanton. This offseason they should rethink Toledo's roster and guys like Hessman and Zeid shouldn't be on it.

He may only have hit .240... But he was second in the league in HR and 4th in RBI. You don't need to hit for average to be effective. He doesn't hit into a ton of double plays, which are worse than a strikeout... And he plays above average defense.... So yes... He could start next year and it wouldn't in the least bit be a bad thing.
