Same problems as last year I see. Offense makes average pitchers look like verlander, manager yanks the pitcher when he has the hot hand, and the pen is disappointing.

110 pitches for Max was plenty.

Here we go...

Yes, you yank Max after 110 pitches every time when it's 48 degrees and you have Nathan in the pen. Nathan just plain couldn't locate today.

This is exactly like the playoffs...the offense doesnt do shit to support an impressive start and the manage turns to a bullpen that is the most unreliable bullpen in the league. But dont tell raburn river and jalopy that the pen leaves much to be desired. Geez, fans cant even count on nathan to get three outs? The pen is in for a long season.

Disagree, I have always been and always will advocate you stick with the hot hand then risk going to the pen. It is and always will be a mistake. Now if max comes in in the ninth and allows a runner to start, then you go to the pen.

I do agree that the Tigers lack of add-on runs against an average pitcher is a problem.

I could handle Nathan getting another W today. Since he didn't feel like picking up the GD save. Torii has to take care of business here.

Good lord, April 2nd and the "sky is falling" fans are out. And the team hasn't lost a game yet.

Is there a way to start a separate thread for the transient Lions fans that some over here?

Disagree, you should always stick with the guy you pay millions to, baseball players are athletes and shouldnt be treated as pussies. They used to pitch complete games all of the time. Someone at some point decided there needed to be more specialists and managing which is fine, but that doesnt mean a pitcher cant throw nine innings anymore. Its a joke. Every other sport you see athletes getting bigger, stronger, and better except quarterbacks and starting pitchers. Respect you howie, but will never advocate replacing a stud pitcher whos been doing amazing and going to the pen (especially the tigers pen).

It's in-game thoughts, not "sky is falling". Big difference.

There's no way you need to send a guy out for another inning when he's at 110 pitches in his first outing. I don't want to read that crap. Get real.

Miggy and V-mart leaving a guy at third are as big as the Nathan BS.

Who said the sky is falling dude? You take EVERYTHING the wrong way. Didnt you say the pen was a top five pen or was that your pal raburn? I merely stated they havent improved from last years playoff team. Exactly, we all know they are good, but they can be better.

You aren't treating pitchers as "pussies" when it's April 2 and they've thrown 110 pitches after probably never topping 70 in spring training. If it's June, I agree with you, laker.

Thats exactly why they pay the guy. If he had been struggling and tiring, I would agree. He was doing fine. Maybe I dont want to read your crap. It was a mistake and will always be a mistake. The manager needs to assess the situation, not the pitch count.

Yes, it is way too similar to the red sox series. I get it, its cold out, but have seen it way too much last year so it cant really be used as an excuse.

He threw a 79 mph change up in the 8th. Ausmus came out to see if he had enough left to face one more batter. He did. But he clearly was working harder in the 8th. It was his longest inning by quite a bit. If this were June 2nd I might feel differently.
