well unfortunately players have to be on the 25 roster on august 31, or the DL to be eligible for post season play. Of course they will have the option of using Rondon and hanrahans spot for 2 pitchers not on the 25 man before sept 1. So Brad will have options.

According to mlive ausmus said scherzer will start the first game to off set chris sale. So pitchers duel in game one and hopefully a slugfest game 2.

So you mean the 40 man then? Thanks for info Adrian never knew of Aug31st date for the post season.

I would almost rather have Max go opposite of Sale and try to suddenly have offensive explosion against Sale...LOL

Gives better chance at 1-1 or 2-0 in DH IMO

Alex Avila grants your wish!!!!

So, what's wrong with this picture:

Ian Kinsler: .313 OBP
Torii Hunter: .316 OBP
Alex Avila: .323 OBP

Oh, the fact that Kinsler and Hunter frequently bat 1-2 in the order. And a .220 hitter gets on base at a higher rate than they do. Alarming.

I do like Hunter in the two hole more than I do the five hole.

But yeah, Avila is one of the few Tigers that doesn't go up there and swing at anything he can reach. AA, Victor and Kelly, that's about it. Miggy's getting closer to double the K to walks now too.

Hunter sees better pitches from Miggy effect. Just noone fears him at the moment. I just no patience from Hunter. A pitcher could throw 10 balls and Hunter will still swing at first pitch above his head.

People hate AA I like him. Sure he bats 200 and K's a lot. Calls a good game and actually is clutch more than most at current time. He does get timely walks. Does suck he can't run for shit though.

Kinsler... I want to look at his July and August splits but I am affraid to. He has dropped from 300+ AVG. to where he is after the AS break is Romine style.

I think that way too...with max not going against sale we might get a split at worst....if sale beats max because our bats cant hit sale then our minor leaguer gets lit up that night...it could be another bad double header for us. We suck at double headers. Anyone know our last double header sweep was?

Howie i think i pointed out back in the preseason when people were all fired up about kinsler becoming THE LEADOFF MAN WE NEEDED....i pointed out kinslers OBP was around the same as ajax was....when trade was made, texas fans were saying that after a year tiger fans would get tired of seeing kinslers uppercut swing and pop ups.

I remember i wanted tori in the 2 hole and kinsler in the 5th before the season....but i guess kinsler doesnt have the pop he once had. When our 5 hole hitter hits, we seem to win. Such an important spot on this team batting behind miggy and vmart.

A-jax's OBP was actually better, based on this year's numbers for Kinz. Yeah, he is what they said he is: a gritty player who will hustle and play a good 2B, some extra-base pop, but someone who will also drive you nuts with pop-ups and short fly balls in crucial ABs.

He's basically just dropping back to his career AVG of about .273. Water eventually finds its level. The thing is, when he bats ahead of Miggy, you can understand the lower walks because he'll see more strikes. But that being the case, he should hit over .300 like Torii did when he was in the 2-hole all last year.

So I see where the Tigers top 5 prospect Devon Travis is being tried at CF down in AA. Not sure what other options there are for next season. FA crop in CF weak and Derek Hill this years first rounder a few years away.

He is a 2B prospect right? I will take whatever wins games. Not bad idea with Kinsler here and Iggy and Saurez also.

EDIT....wow with those 3 maybe no Romine next year.

What channel? WGN has Cubs on in Iowa.

Watching it on MLBTV.....I pay for a subscription......100 bucks a season to basically watch any game. Living in TN it's worth it.....

I watch my football for free over the internet and that once in a blue moon they get a monday nite game....Or just go to a sports pub or friends house where my friends are dumb enough to pay hundreds of dollars for direct tvs NFL package...Anywho, just watch it for free with good company, baseball is different with 162 games, so I'll pay less then a dollar to watch everygame.

Encouraging outing by JV. Matched both his stingiest 7+ IP game and tied his season high in Ks (8).
