Hey nate mcClouth from whitehall is coming to town. My cousin just called me an hour ago.....i guess nate invited him over to detroit for todays game. Wish i was in michigan, i woulda went. I made sure to tell my cousin the whole muskegon/whitehall debate thing. Maybe nate gets interviewed and straigtens it out.....or as my cousin told me once before, i think nate is ashamed to be from "small" whitehall.

Keep an eye out for another whitehall star tho....my other younger cousin is staring for them again next year...,he wont be as good as his older brother tho. When he graduated he was 2nd in the state of michigan for total HR's behind drew henson. He had also held the record for consecutive HR's. but he chose wrestling over ball.

Tell Nate that the people of Muskegon think of him as their hometown boy.....as does Baseball-Reference, ESPN, CBSsports, Wikipedia, etc. Also tell him the Iffster has been trying to make him a Tigers for years.

the good thing about the tigers offense is that we know it will heat up and go on a tear now that its starting to warm up. Their biggest issue is the back end of the bullpen. I trust their offense and starting pitching. Glad to see benoit got the close yesterday. I remember seeing an article recently about how there supposedly wasn't any other pitcher on the tigers that could close although I would take any other pitcher on the tigers to close over valverde. Even coke.

20 out of 22 is absolutely crazy!!! It doesn't even matter to me who you're going up against, if your starters allow three or less at that rate your staff is bonkers. And I couldn't honestly say who has been the biggest surprise. Max has far and away exceeded my expectations(they were that high tbh), Ricky has been more of a solid 3 than a five. And Sanchez and Doug (Fisters ability to into rhe late innings has been a very unsung part of the Tigers being in first, imo)have been top end two's while JV is JV. This staff is a thing of beauty. Too bad the bullpen has two, maybe three solid pieces in it. Good test again tonight, I love the Orioles lineup. (Just not when we're playing them)

as I stated earlier. sanchez should have been on the DL retroactive to his last start allowing them to bring him back whenever he is ready. he should also do a rehab start at toledo instead of throwing away games like happened on saturday.

The tigers always seem to hit well once it warms up....if you think about it they usually struggle the first few months when its cool, then they hit well in the hot summer months, then if they make the WS the bats go cold the last 2 times they made it there. One good thing is the tigers have started better then usual. Now only if they turn it up a notch once july and august get here. If so, they will win the division by 10 games. The starting pitching has been amazing. Especially when your 5th pitcher is constantly giving you decent outings with a chance to win. Too bad the BP has givin away so many games already. Tigers could easily be up 8-9 games. But thats baseball, everything averages out. The cream will always rise to the top in a 162 game season.

I agree adrian....they should had never took the chance starting him the other day....should of called up alvarez and made sure sanchez was at least 90 percent ready, if not 95-99 before pitching. Its a long season. No reason to take added risks. Hopefully he didnt make anything worse by pitching the other day.

it is interesting garcia and Holladay were brought up. Not sure why garcia gets brought up after 2 games in Toledo although he was 5 for 8. there has been a lot of rumblings about replacing Dirks with castellanos/garcia and moving Dirks to a fourth OF spot. We shall see what happens.

lots of people think garcia may be the better MLB player, at least in the OF. We shall see. I like them both. We shall see if one of them is traded at the deadline. Nick C is till shaky in the OF.

Theres alot of fans rumbling about DD not getting us a closer...

I just cant complain about DD. look at the players he has gotten the tigers and what we have lost.

Hes signed big FA's like pudge, mags, sheffield( didnt work out well but showed tigers were a serious franchise ), prince, benoit, valverde, hunter, victor, and peralta( cant remember if he was traded or signed )

What big FA have the tigers lost? He knew he couldnt sign grandy and he traded him...now look at trades

Hes traded for casey, washburn, huff, infante, sanchez, miggy, willis, fister, ajax, and max.

He traded away turner, wells, maybin, miller, furbush, martinez( and got him back), ruffin, grandy, E Jackson.

I know i missed others, but thats a pretty damn good resume there.....remember the tigers before DD? When randy smith was there? His biggest move? Signing ausmus TWICE!

motor city bengals has great piece looking back week by week at the infamous 2003 tigers. 17-49 at this point of the season. Ah the Randy smith era.

Forgot about delmon young also.

Im not sold on garcia yet. Dont get me wrong, i do like him and his energy for the game. He does look just like a miggy jr. But id trade him for relief help if his stock rises at all. I think the tigers have a nice set of young outfielders. Ajax has center wrapped up. I like dirks. Hunter has one more year. Garcia looks decent. Then we also have nicky c. So i would trade one of dirks, garcia or nick c. Take the best deal. If there isnt a decent deal, keep them all. Its a win win. Plus we got DK!!!!!!!

I noticed you excluded his mistakes like Raburn.:noidea:

DD has done alright as a GM....but that still does not erase the fact that he has struggled creating really good bullpens.

You'd think a 'fan' like muzz would be here slapping his own back after Smyly's 3 inning save.

Good call Mr. Leyland.

Smyly can also pitch 3 innings....Valverde would throw 100 pitches if he had to go 3 innings.

Benoit....1.1 inning save. Smyly 3 innings. That old dude is thinking outside the box.
