not really suprising so far. Britton coming into tonight 2-0 against detroit. case of the righties all trying to pull the ball. Lots of ground balls to the left side. JL/LLyod philosophy of pulling the ball.

Ok I finally did it.....I added him to my ignore list. I Just figured he would get bored, but apparently not.

Anyone else do it? If so let me know if it was worth it.

This is apparently little league ball, Pena was out, and JL has managed like it. I feel for Buck, he has every right to bitch about that call.....Pena was tagged out, and out of the base path.....Is this single A ball were watching tonite?

No, JV is not the best right now. But I still contend that great pitchers have bad stretches and so-so seasons.

Nolan Ryan at ages 31-32 has 3.72 and 3.64 seasons. At age 33 his ERA drops to 3.35, and at age 34, it's 1.69. Several more sub-3.00 seasons after that.

Roger Clemens at age 33 goes 10-13, 3.63. Comes back the next two seasons with 20 wins in each, and ERAs of 2.05 and 2.65. (Not sure if the 'roid use started then.)

So, to assume that this bad stretch of JV's is the beginning of a long, steady decline is overly pessimistic and ignores the reality of pitching a long career in the big leagues.

Jesse crain would be nice if we coud get the sox to trade him in the division. If we keep hitting the way we do, a closer wont matter. Cant hit with RISP.

LOL ... 6-run fourth inning for the O's. Looks like we're back to the same old Rick. He just got in two more good starts this time before his usual HORSESH*T outing, and everyone jumped on the Ricky Bandwagon. (Including me a few posts ago.)

Is it 'the end of the world as we know it'?????

Predicting a Tigers slide back to barely .500. Starting pitching will emulate the offense...up, down, up, down.

Well the good news on the Tigers is we're 16-10 versus the AL Central and haven't even played one game against the last-place White Sox yet. Can't see them backsliding to .500, but this stretch starting with the KC series has been suspect.

Ah, good base running Tui. What were you taught as a Little Leaguer? Never, never run to third on a ball hit to the left side of the infield. I guess he screwed up, and he's not alone on this team.

Lack of fundamentals. Pretty much a problem all teams face nowadays.

Tigers are one of the worst teams in the league running the bases. Not just speed, poor baserunning sense.

Now that the three posters (muzz, burf, smitty) - have gone through Spine Removal operations - and are not listening...I can pontificate more openly. LOL

A thought struck me watching the game the other day. Not just muzz (and a few others), but many Tiger fans are content to blame all Tiger problems on Jim Leyland. I've always said that blaming the manager for the teams' problems and loses is the lazy fans approach. But let's assume Detroit got rid of JL today...right after the game. Now if Detroit suddenly won 10 in a row and waltz to the division title and beyond...those 'Blame Leyland' fans would be vindicated. On the other hand, if the team continued to stumble would those same fans be forced to see the inadequacies of the players? Would those Blame Leyland fans simply begin to blame the new manager, shift to blaming DD, or (heaven forbid) face the fact that players win or lose games?
[If JL was canned - now or later - I would really look forward to the soon after day, when the Blame Leyland fans say..."They should have kept Leyland!'

Atleast JL is using Valverde correctly today.....Down by 6....Hopefully he will pitch 50 pitches and not be available for the rest of the week...make that down by 8 now. Haha, god this guy is terrible.

More tattling on me by the clique. I guess I will let them have a win here. I truly pity them.

Enjoy your clubhouse boys....

Well the good news is, were done with the orioles. Man do they hit our pitching.

Valverde? How does this guy keep getting put out there. HES DONE.

I noticed our last 22 games come against KC, SOX, TWINS, SEATTLE, AND MIAMI. As long as we are still around first place towards the end, we have a favorable schedule. Last 13 are vs seattle, chisox, minny and miami. I see no worse than 10-3 9-4.
