Now that our season series is over, I hope you guys destroy everyone you face (especially the BoSox this weekend) until we face you in the playoffs!

Valverde just has to be gone. I mean the stuff is just not there. I hope that since his agent is Boras, it gets us a slight discount on resigning Max. otherwise that was a quick waste of 2 Million.

fight brewing between L and DD? JL trying to get valverde enough finished games to get his bonuses. DD brings up garcia and JL keeps him on the bench. Brings up reed and he barely gets any time, yet Coke gets trotted out every day. I see tension here.

When your venting adrian we know the Tigers have a problem.......

JL is A BUM!!!!

DD isn't much better, but he gave us Miggy, Prince, etc etc, just left the cupboards bare in the pen......He could have had 2 closers and 5 guys in the pen for 200 mil.......

I'm not worried......The money will be spent, we didn't get all this firepower to watch it fail, or did we?

Help is coming and DD will come through again.

I posted the other day I thought JL was running the Potato out there day after day just to keep showing DD what a piece of shit he gave him for a closer.....I still say bring the Mudhens up and lets see what we got before we start throwing money and prospects away....

Gosh, looks like Papa Grande had a bad inning yesterday. But then the game was out of reach and Jimmie was resting the pen for Boston. For what Papa is getting paid, I'll do his job for 1/1000000th of his pay. As the leading pitcher in my AARP Super Senior Tee Ball League, I'd be proud to help the Tigers.

Since May 31, the numbers aren't very pretty on Valverde: 7 games, 7.1 IP, 11 ER, 6 HR allowed.

I have to admit, when he came back in April with a new windup and 6-for-6 in saves out of the gate, I thought he had isolated and corrected his issues from last season. Guess not. He's back to having a fastball that's as flat as day-old beer and a splitter he can't locate.

Made a good point....said if the sox traded crain to the tigers now, leyland would have around a month to see if crain would work as closer. If he couldnt, he would still be a great addition to the BP and we would still have time to get a closer.....names mentioned were garcia, smyly, collins, and crosby......i cant see us trading smyly.....if its garcia, i think there would have to be more to the trade. Crains having a great year tho. ....thoughts?

well crain is in his walk year. Not sure i would give up a top prospect for a half season of jesse crain. Could it be Crain having a huge year is the Next benoit who will get some GM to overpay next season based on one great season.

Crain is having a great year in a setup role, and really has been very good since joining the White Sox: cumulative ERA in the low 2's and 172 Ks in 145 innings. But yeah, he's making $4.5 mill this season and would become an FA at the end of this season. Plus, he's got a whopping 4 career saves, so there's no guarantee he'd be a success as a closer at age 31.

Yeah thats why i figured if garcia is involved, the tigers have to receive something else. But hey im all for collins or crosby.

New closer is now Benoit. With Smyly sliding into a more late inning role, probably setup. Downs moves to long relief. so pen trade is probably for setup/seventh inning guys. watch for a return of the amazing Al after striking out 5 in an inning and a third the other night. with the emergence of Smyly in the pen it might also provide an opportunity to bring Rondon back in a less stressful role.
